A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

an email from (former - banned) FReeper BadRay..

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself.
Who ever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? What a fantastic idea. Now, if someone would just make plastic wrap that didn’t stick to itself. I’ve been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.
Well, I would like to share this with you.. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place! How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can’t count the number of times the Saran warp roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

Well I’ll be! I just went to kitchen and “locked” the foil and Reynolds plastic wrap rolls. I almost had to take a hammer and chisel to the foil box tabs! Good helpful hint.

Morning to all the Finest.. I leave shortly to “shoot” this weeks BIggest Friggin’ Loser (contest from church)
then dog walk in rain, and a few other things on agenda.
Hope all are having a good day. I have such a sick feeling regarding the horse race today..
Patty and I will see Narnia on Monday . we are both CSLewis fans.. she is into his fiction & I am into his apologetics.
The funeral yesterday was good in that it is always nice to see family that you normally dont see unless it is a funeral or wedding.. Might post a “cousin” pix if I get it worked up. When I was young, there were 40 cousins on my dads side of family. Now with deaths & moves, there are only about 15 of us in area

Here's the best reason for being in East Tennessee in May.....Scotts Strawberries
Easy Shortcake
Bake Pillsbury frozen biscuits till browned
Slice in half, butter generously sprinkle generously with sugar, run under broiler till the butter is well melted.
Top with well sugared mashed strawberries and Coolwhip.

Seize The Day
My times are in Your hand. Psalm 31:15
Before entering the broadcasting field, Jim Valvano led the North Carolina State University basketball team to a national championship. Then cancer developed in his lower back. Invited to address the Duke University squad, Jim had this to say: Life changes when you least expect it to. The future is uncertain. So, seize this day, seize this moment, and make the most of it.
God gives us an urgent directive in Hebrews 3:13, Exhort one another daily, while it is called Today, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Why is there such a strong insistence on today?
It may be that today, this very day, could be the last one in our time here on earth. Today may be your last opportunity to accept Gods gift of salvation, or if you know the Lord already, to share His love with a friend or loved one.
James has this warning about presuming upon our tomorrows: You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away (4:14).
Seize the opportunities that God gives you today. Thats sound advicenot just for basketball players, but for all of us.
Redeem the timeGod only knows
How soon our little life may close;
As every passing moment flows,
Redeem the time! Anon.
