Thank you for your tagline. Entirely too few people are paying attention to this aspect of this election. I don't like McCain for a number of strong reasons. But when the Supreme Court appointments are thrown on the scale, I can hold my nose and vote.

I don't like McCain for a number of strong reasons. But when the Supreme Court appointments are thrown on the scale, I can hold my nose and vote. Exactly right.
People talk about how four or eight years under Obama might reenergize the conservative movement.
But if we cede control of the Supreme Court to the socialists for another twenty years, I'm not sure it's going to matter.
If there are three openings on the Court, with Obama we'll get the President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer of the ACLU.
McCain has repeatedly vowed to appoint Roberts/Alito/Rehnquist types. I don't particularly trust him, and he may try to fudge a little. But he knows that openly breaking that promise would cause a nuclear implosion in the GOP.
So you've got to figure he'll try to appoint at least Rehnquist-style conservatives. Shoot, even squishy Kennedy-style goobs would be ten times better than what we'll get from Obama.
Everybody's gotta make their own decision, but we can't leave the Court out of the calculation.
