It would seem that he was in the press core of the army, taking pictures. Hmmmmm. Lots of pictures of military vehicles by Pfc. Matthis Chiroux . Here are a few...

It is interesting to note that his service must have been comprised of cushy writing jobs for the military. In this article he is quoted:
"I cannot deploy to Iraq, carry a weapon and not be part of the problem," he told AFP
It seems that this man never carried a weapon at all....
I mean, I'm just sayin'
Once he pays back every cent of salary and benefits he has received from his fraudulent enlistment, he can serve a sentence for fraud, then he can stand up against the wall and take his punishment for desertion.
Agreed. I was in 10th grade back in the Viet Nam era...OK, it was 1971. I was in a top school, member of the Navy Sea Cadets with a record on their admissions test, 3.7 average, middle class, 1420 PSAT score, so, while I was hearing from recruiters I was also hearing from Harvard, West Point, etc. as a National Merit Semi-Finalist. Recruiters recruit, it doesn’t matter who you are.
Sounds like a future democRat Senator to me.
George would know what to do with him.
"Each man must not think only of himself, but also of his buddy fighting beside him. We don't want yellow cowards in this Army. They should be killed off like rats. If not, they will go home after this war and breed more cowards. The brave men will breed more brave men. Kill off the G_ddamned cowards and we will have a nation of brave men."
Not quite, useful idiot. You're filet mignon for stalinists. And that's all you're ever going to be.
Then from one poor southern white boy to another, are you familiar with the term, "chickensh!t"?
Yep. And the pantywaists in DC excoriated him.
Some things never change.
He can be a real martyr then. Either way I wouldn't want him in my unit.
That kind of talk and person infects others. He doesn't have to pull duty in Iraq, he can go somewhere safe like Pakistan.
or better yet.... somewhere manning a post in Uganda, Djibouti, Senegal, São Tomé and Príncipe.
Africa is beautiful this time of year.... no illegal wars there and new bases are just popping up in these scenic, state of the art, 5th world outposts.
Bring some mosquito netting and a knife cause there are some ooogley-boogley things that crawl around there at night.
“My decision is based on my desire to no longer continue violating my core values to support an illegal and unconstitutional occupation... I refuse to participate in the Iraq occupation”
“...my core values to support an illegal and unconstitutional occupation...”
He’s got the marxist rhetoric memorized, doesn’t he?
>>Chiroux joined the US army straight out of high school nearly six years ago, and worked his way up from private to sergeant.
>>He served in Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, and the Philippines and was due to be deployed next month in Iraq.
I am not an expert on Army ranks (apparantly, neither is the writer of the article), but aren’t there two sets of ranks in the Army - Specialists and Command?
Sergeants are for line companies, whereas specialist rankings are for tech MOS’s, and they don’t crossover. At least, that is what I remember reading.
So, either this guy is a Spec (4-9, whatever), in which case the article is incorrect, or more likely this guy is making it up as he goes. The other option is that he is/was/could have been a sergeant and globalsecurity.org doesn’t know the difference. Hardly!
In any event, this looks like another John “I was in Vietnam” Kerry wannabe and the Winter Soldier 2 is up to the same old tricks.
