Obama to speak out on Bush 'appeasement' charge (Obama is an APPEASER)
Boston Globe ^ | 5/16/2008 | Foon Rhee

The blowup over President Bush's remarks to Israel's parliament equating talks with rogue regimes to appeasement will be front and center another day.

Barack Obama, who saw himself as the target of Bush's criticism, is expected to directly rebut the president later today at a campaign event in South Dakota.

His top foreign policy adviser, Susan Rice, said this morning on MSNBC that Obama will deliver a "very vigorous response to what was an outrageous, unprecedented, and divisive attack from President Bush yesterday which was patently dishonest."

She argued that Republican presidents, including Ronald Reagan, have talked to renegade countries. And she said Obama has made "absolutely clear" he will not deal with terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

While the White House officially denied the remarks were aimed at Obama, presumptive Republican nominee John McCain used the opportunity to argue again that Obama's willingness to negotiate shows he is naive and inexperienced in the ways of foreign policy.

As President, Obama and his brown-shirts will see to it that you will either vocally agree with ALL his policies or be silent.

And then, on Day Two, when there's so much silence around the country, those same brown-shirts will hold up an "Applause" sign with one hand and an Uzi pointed at you in the other.

Welcome to "Change".

“And she said Obama has made “absolutely clear” he will not deal with terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.”

Exactly. He’ll talk to the countries that finance and organize their terrorist activities.

Glenn Reynolds summed it up with this pithy statement:

MEMO TO THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN: When somebody condemns appeasement, it doesn’t help things to jump up and yell “Hey, he’s talking about me!”

Apparently, even though Bush did not mention Obama in his speech, everyone (including Obama) recognizes Obama as the party he was referring to.

That’s what I’m thinkin’ too.

Great political instincts, Barry:
a) my first thought was Dubya meant Carter
b) wouldn’t have even known about it, if your “defenders” hadn’t gone ballistic about Bush dissing you.

1 There is no real "outrage" by democrat politicians. Ever. Obama WANTS to run against Bush and this is justa cheap political trick to do so.

2 IF the American people elect a president who is personally insulted by general references to appeasement in WWII and with present day terrorists - then we deserve the Hell which awaits us, and believe me people will die because of such a president.

Anyone catching PMSNBC since this happened? Man, have they blown a gasket. All objectivity has gone out the window and any pretense of being impartial reporters of the news is completely gone.

He can't run away from it because Iran has said they will not negotiate their nuke program, Obama has said he will unconditionally negotiate with them so the only thing Obama can offer is Appeasement to try and keep them from wiping Israel off the map with nukes. He won't confront them, he will just do the old Jimmy Carter pretend job.

Apparently, Obama thinks that this is a better thing to talk about than Rev. Wright.

In my view, it’s not much better, though. And he apparently assumes that folks will forget about Rev. Wright.

I thought we weren't allowed to mention Obama's skin . . . thin or otherwise.

With Obama's penchant for thinking that everything is about him, perhaps we should call him Maxi Me?

“All objectivity has gone out the window....”

That presumes that there was some before... and there wasn’t.

So IF Obama has made clear he would never talk to Hamas, maybe he can explain exactly what he is complaining about?
