ANN COULTER: DEMOCRATS' HYBRID PICKUP TRUCKS (New York Times Race Baiting? Who'd Thunk It?)

DEMOCRATS' HYBRID PICKUP TRUCKS
May 14, 2008

On the very day of a special election to fill a vacated congressional seat this week in Mississippi, The New York Times accused the Republican candidate of running racist ads against his Democratic opponent.

Talk about dirty tricks! By The New York Times, that is.

The Republican thus accused of racism narrowly lost the election the night the Times article appeared, so I guess the Times can proclaim: "Mission Accomplished."

The ad in question, on behalf of Republican Greg Davis, pointed out that Barack Obama had endorsed Davis' opponent, Travis Childers -- another in a long line of fake-American goobers claiming to be "conservative Democrats," but who get to Congress and promptly vote to ban guns, surrender in Iraq and fund full-term abortions.

These days, I guess you can call yourself a "conservative Democrat" if you refrain from being sworn into Congress with your hand on a Quran.

The ad showed a clip of Obama's pastor g-damning America and mentioned Obama's recent remarks ridiculing rural folks for clinging to guns. It then concluded that Childers "took Obama's endorsement over our conservative values."

In elections in the patriotic parts of the country, Democrats keep producing candidates that look like they're out of a Norman Rockwell painting but vote like Karl Marx -- which is to say, they vote like the typical member of the Democratic Party. Naturally, Republicans respond to this tactic by linking the local phonies to the national party.

Annie latest homerun!

It is beyond outrageous for liberals to complain about the practice of linking Democrats to the national party when their calculated strategy in race after race in the red states has been to run Democratic candidates who appear to be Americans.

They're not Americans. They're liberals! I don't care how much hay is sticking out of their straw hats.

I think he overreached with that ad, none the less. Wright is 3rd hand to the candidate who won. That’s not compelling. (She was in a movie with someone who was in a movie with Kevin Bacon!)

Ann’s column this week, while factual in every way, does not seem to have the usual bite.

Agreed: the the Democraticans are running faux-conservatives and faux-macho guys in a lot a places, but this was much more a failing of the Republican leadership at the national level, than it was of any real resurgence of patriotism by the Democraticans.

But worse, the national leadership of the Republican party apparently has pre-emptively surrendered, not even putting up a token fight at ANY level. John McCain is only the most obvious example of this surrender to the “mushy middle” and total abandonment of whatever few principles still remain in play.

In the election, a self-proclaimed pro-gun and pro-life candidate won.

Prolife and progun wins elections.

But apparently lying to the voters wins too, since this same man endrorses obama, who is rabidly pro-abortion and for the DC gun ban.

The ad showed a clip of Obama’s pastor g-damning America and mentioned Obama’s recent remarks ridiculing rural folks for clinging to guns. It then concluded that Childers “took Obama’s endorsement over our conservative values.””

Childers is a g***amn liar or a fool. How can you go around telling people you are prolife and progun and yet endorse such a man??

The Liberal "actors" who are poseurs as conservatives need to pass a bog hog litmus test.

Perhaps we should have a test sheet composed for the "conservative" democrats.

They go to acting school, hoodwink the electorate and next thing you know, America no longer exists?

Obama poses as a "Christian."

Hillery poses as a "concerned" mother, when she has the maternal instincts of a lizard.

And when truth be told about them, one is castigated as "racist" or "misogynist".

Maybe its best just to scare the living day lights out of all of them!

Make them help slaughter hogs as a litmus test!

"On the very day of a special election to fill a vacated congressional seat this week in Mississippi, The New York Times accused the Republican candidate of running racist ads against his Democratic opponent..." - Ann Coulter
That would be, from www.nytimes.com:
Republicans Use Obama as Weapon in House Contest in Mississippi

By ADAM NOSSITER

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Hoping to hang on to a Congressional seat in a tight special election here on Tuesday, Republicans in this mostly white and very conservative district are trying to make the vote more a referendum on Senator Barack Obama than on the candidates themselves.

In advertisements and speeches, Republicans have repeatedly associated Travis Childers, the white Democrat threatening to take the seat away from the Republican Party, with Mr. Obama. Republicans say Mr. Obama’s liberal values are out of place in the district. But for many Democratic veterans here, the tactic is a throwback to the old and unwelcome politics of race, a standby in Mississippi campaigning.

Former Gov. William Winter, a Democrat, expressed shock at the current campaign.

"I am appalled that this blatant appeal to racial prejudice is still being employed," said Mr. Winter, who lost the 1967 governor’s race after his segregationist opponent circulated handbills showing blacks listening to one of his speeches. Mr. Winter went on to win the governor’s office 12 years later.

"I had thought we had gotten past that," Mr. Winter said. "That was a tactic that was used against me in the 1960s..."

-- snip --

...The Republican candidate, Greg Davis, said in an interview he was not raising racial issues, but was instead pointing out that his conservative values made him a better fit for the district.

"We’ve run ads against him with John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi," said Mr. Davis, referring to Mr. Childers. "Just because one of them happens to be African-American has no bearing on it.” Mr. Davis, 42, is a former state representative who is now mayor of Southaven, a fast-growing Memphis suburb...

Merely associating him with Obama is racist?

Mr. Winter, met Mr. Freud, from wikipedia.org:

According to Sigmund Freud, projection is a psychological defense mechanism whereby one "projects" one's own undesirable thoughts, motivations, desires, and feelings onto someone else.

One wonders how a Nazi organization like the New York Times can claim someone is raciest when they are totally anti-American pro terrorist and HATE the United States and want to destroy our great nation. They are one of the most raciest organizations in the world.

Since Polar Bears are now on the endangered species list the government should close the New York Times due to their contribution BIG time to global warming and the destruction of the Polar Bear.

I will write my royal members of the Royal 100 Club and ask them to do their sworn duty to protect the bears and close the New York Times due to their contribution to global warming.

How CAN we help? There is no serious place to send contributions to, that won’t totally misuse that cash flow to support an agenda to which “we” (meaning the angry, now truculent, paleocons that are fed up with illegal immigration, inaction of any comprehensive energy policy, pandering to the liberals in Congress who are supercilious in their condemnation of all of the Contract with America, and the total lack of any oversight on earmarks for special interests). There were numerous opportunities to use the veto pen in the years from 2001 to 2006 (resulting in the debacle in 2006), yet where was George W. Bush.

I have been sending back requests from the various national Republican committees for funds to be spent on national campaigns, with the note that not a cent in donations will be made until we start seeing some serious action on controlling our borders, and the declaration of “energy independence” is backed up with some concrete proposals and actions.

And now the tax cuts under which we have been living for the past several years, will be allowed to lapse, which is a tax INCREASE, no matter how it is parsed. Only, the “tax increase” is not translatable into revenue increase, and people start to use strategies for tax AVOIDANCE, since it will essentially cost them nothing anyway, but the pool of taxable assets will shrink.

Women and children to be most severely affected.

Where are the priorities of this country, anyway.

“There is no serious place to send contributions to”

The campaigns of the Florida congressional GOP candidates who agree with you on the issues and are in open or tight races.

I’d start with Allan West. You know who he is, right?

Bush is not on the ballot. Many CONSERVATIVES are.

“And now the tax cuts under which we have been living for the past several years, will be allowed to lapse”

ONLY IF THE DEMOCRATS AND OBAMA WIN!
If it’s McCain + a good GOP year, we will salvage that and stop a $1 trillion tax hike.
God help us if it is Obama.

“Women and children to be most severely affected.”

LOL, so true!

Yes. That doesn't sound racist to me. But it does sound stupid. It sounds like the ad was trying, in part, to link Childers to Wright through Obama.
