I was walking the dog in Jaffa early the morning after Independence Day when, contrary to all seasonal expectation, it began to rain. We took cover by the old Turkish government building, the Sarai. Beautiful as it surely is, though, it is barely skin deep. The Sarai is a freshly reconstructed false front.

Before all else, we owe the Palestinians our respect. They could have rolled over long ago, packed up and headed for Australia, given up. They know that their leaders are execrable, their institutions corrupt and impotent, their ideology self-destructive, their economy in ruin, their international prestige at a nadir.
Still, they are here. Still, they are our occupiers. After 60 years, powerless, in disarray, they occupy our imagination and our politics and our nightmares.
We owe the Palestinians for keeping us honest. We owe the Palestinians for reminding us that we were never alone in this place. We owe the Palestinians what we expect from them: the recognition that they deserve, as a real people.
We owe the Palestinians a state.

Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
They have a state. Its called Jordan.
Just to re-cap history, Palestine was split into two pieces. A sliver for the jewish palestinians, renamed “Israel”. And the rest for the arab palestinians, renamed “Jordan”.
The Gazans are Egyptians.
Its really not as complicated as the suits make it out to be.
Does he know that most Palestinians would saw his head off, just for owning a dog?
LOL! ... classic Alouette "barf alert"!
The Palestinians do not want a state. If all they wanted was a state, the conflict would have been resolved long ago. What the Palestinians want is for Israel and Jews not to exist. They will be satisfied with nothing less. When Obama is President, they may get their wish. ‘Never Again’ has become ‘zzzzzz...Huh, Wha’ ?’
“Before all else, we owe the Palestinians our respect.”
Like the respect they gave us when they danced in the streets on 9/11 some wearing AMERICAN clothes.
Ef ‘em.
“They (Palestinians) know that their leaders are execrable, their institutions corrupt and impotent, their ideology self-destructive, their economy in ruin, their international prestige at a nadir.”
Yeah, that sounds like a great foundation for a state.
This is what happens when you allow a demented Liberal access to a keyboard.
“We owe the Palestinians a state.”
Dear Bradley, they want yours.
Jeeze louise, this bozo is right up there where the elevator doesn’t stop at the top floor.
I have an idea: maybe the “palestinians” could go back to the countries they came from.
We will never be able to give them their fair share of this land, nor will they ever be able to give us ours. In the end, the extremists on both sides are right: we do deserve everything, the Mediterranean to the Jordan, the Lebanon border to the Red Sea, and all of Jerusalem in between. We can claim all of it. And so can they.
I like this part. Ignoring the rest of the sentimental crap, it brings the point home that there is no cute diplomatic way out of this. If you want the land, you have to fight for it, whoever you are.
We owe the Palestinians a state.++

They aren’t owed anything until they become civilized and respect the rights of their neighbors and most importantly, they stop teaching their children a culture of hatred and death.
One does not live with cockroaches. And the Pali’s ARE cockroaches.
Gaza...a slum
West Bank...a slum
East Jerusalem ...a slum
They’ve had millions of dollars poured into them...and they are cockroach infested third world hell-holes. None of the other Arab states has spent dime one on the Pali’s because they know better than to give them anything, because it will never be enough. Just like a cockroach.
Fortunately for me, I am a pre-millienialist. I don’t think the Arabs are going to win.
My 72 year old daddy had an abdominal aortic aneurysm repair this morning - just below the renal arteries, so it had to be an open surgery. He quit smoking as his doctor advised - at about 5 PM yesterday, if not last month.
He is already insisting that they let him up out of the ICU bed.
My sister and I taught him to say “versed.” It’s a good word to know, Jim.
May you have a similar swift recovery. And may the Lord give you freedom from pain and infection.
Send the palesimians to Antarctica to set up shop!
