Smoke Nazis will not stop--even if every smoker quit today. They would only transfer their need to control and regulate to another behavior, another cause.

I know too many people who smoke who HAVE NOT gotten cancer to have faith in the reports anymore.
There is a population of people who never smoked who get lung cancer- can we conclude that NOT smoking causes cancer? Of course not.
Everything in moderation.
Oh and I quit a long time ago. I am not suggesting I am convinced it is healthy, I just don’t believe the nazi do-gooders anymore

At least in Illinois, the smoking ban was passed by the legislature and signed by the governor. They can be held accountable for their actions in the next election. Yeah. Like that's gonna happen. < /sarcasm>

Smoking is unquestionably a bad habit, but the issue of second-hand exposure is hardly settled as a matter of science. The evidence is, well, hazy. Under such circumstances, free people could normally be entrusted to reach voluntary agreements and mutually satisfactory arrangements. But, no. The desire for control over other people’s lives and resources (a pretty bad habit, too) translates into taxation, then regulation, then punitive law, and finally to the use of police state power.

I guess I’m lucky that I am still allowed to smoke my daily cigar outside on my deck...

"Smoke Nazis will not stop--even if every smoker quit today. They would only transfer their need to control and regulate to another behavior, another cause." Exactly right! In fact they've already started with trans-fats and obesity. Eventually, any conceivable behavior that can be alleged to have an adverse effect on a persons health will be fair game. This will include things like "risky" sports as well. Say goodbye to High School and College Football.

...when they forced attendees to the Chicagoland International Pipe and Tobacciana Show to go outside to smoke.Sadly enough most of them would have hoped for a free toke if it were an illegal bong.

Why would non-smokers go to this convention if only to find sales,
and sales to smokers at that. Just give them leather whips so they can
beat the guilt out of their backsides.
