You are right to be confused. However, it should be noted that the reviewer who gave Buttcrack Mountin' a "thumbs-up" touched off a firestorm and was eventually drummed out of his job. The review was sponsored by the US Bishops' Council, a body which has no official teaching authority within the Catholic Church.

I definitely understand their objection to the insidious messages in the atrocious Matrix movies.
As to why they don't condemn “Brokeback” — I ain't touching that!
