For fear of oil spills, as of 2008, the U.S. federal government and various states ban drilling in thousands upon thousands of square miles off the U.S. coast. These areas, primarily on the outer Continental Shelf, hold an estimated 115 billion barrels of oil and 633 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. This leaves America's energy needs increasingly at the mercy of foreign autocrats, despots, and maniacs. All the while worldwide demand for oil ratchets ever and ever upward. At times you'd swear that Che Guevara's bloody lesson (not to mention Lenin, Mao, and Pol Pot's) has yet to sink in. Barack Obama, for instance, recently proposed a windfall profits tax on oil companies. Such "hope" that more federal looting of oil producers will lower prices is not "audacious", it is simply idiotic. And that's only part of the idiocy. For those who favor evidence over dogma, a lesson in the environmental perils of offshore oil drilling presents itself every bit as starkly, though much less murderously. To wit: Of the roughly 3,700 offshore oil productions platforms in the Gulf of Mexico, roughly 3,200 lie off the Louisiana coast. Yet Louisiana produces one-third of America's commercial fisheries and no major oil spill has ever soiled its coast.

Drill ANWR and North Dakota.
Enough farting around
As many of these sites are outside the 12 mile limit; they are in international water. Maybe we can get China to drill there, so we can buy that oil from China... I mean, if we are stupid enough to ignore oil right off our shores, in international waters; because we are afraid of environmental wackos - don't we deserve to be in this mess?
China is already planning to do this in cooperation with Cuba and Venezuala.
“Drill ANWR and North Dakota.”
You need to tell your CongressCritter. Right now, they only hear from the environmentalists who will fight any form of new energy since their objective is to force us to use less and less.
And oil spill prevention technology was a lot worse when most of the Louisiana off-shore wells were drilled and started production. If the eco-nutcase Europeans think the spill prevention technology is safe enough to allow offshore drilling in the North Sea (a body of water far more "tempestuous" than any US coastal water), then it's certainly safe enough to drill off the "delicate" coastlines of California and Florida.
I shouldnt HAVE to say it again, but to reduce oil prices:
1) Decriminalize Atlantic coast drilling,
2) Decriminalize Pacific coast drilling,
3) Decriminalize ANWR drilling,
4) Decriminaize Florida Gulfcoast drilling,
5) Wait 10 years, and
6) Raise the value of the dollar in world currency markets.
What? And HELP the US? Why the hell would the ‘Rats want to do that?
And California and Florida and Louisiana and Texas and...
** “But it will take at least 5 years before it will make a difference!” **
BTW, that’s the same excuse they used 5 years ago!
And 10 years ago!
And 15 years ago!
Exactly!
The damn procrastinating excuses.
Not only drill our own resources, but how about refineries!
My slogan if I was running for prez? A refinery in every state!
Don't you know farts contribute to global warming? /sarc
But nukes don't, so build some nukes to power all those new refineries.
And more nuclear power plants too!
Slacker! Just one?
America will pay for having RATS in charge.
Folks there is no shortage of oil we have plenty of our own. Checkout the Lindsey williams Video on google and you tube.
We are being hoodwinked and our gubberment is in on it.
“I dlink yourl mirlkshake!”
Nice dreams. No relation to reality.

And I still stand by my vest-pocket summary:
I've been saying for years the way to revive and restore the economy ( and it would have headed off these oil price problems as well ) was to-
1- drill for gas & oil like crazy- onshore, offshore, and in Alaska
2- go nuclear for power
3- convert stationary plants to clean coal technology
4- slash taxes and regulations like crazy
Dy-no-mite Pic! “Worth a milion words”, as they say.
