Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama flatly promised to raise taxes in a television interview Thursday afternoon.
I will raise CEO taxes, Obama told CNNs Wolf Blitzer on The Situation Room.
If youre a CEO in this country youll probably pay more taxes, Obama said. Obama speculated his CEO tax rates wont be prohibitively high, youll pay roughly what you did in the 90s when they were doing fine.
Obama also said he would eliminate the Bush tax cuts and install what he called a middle class tax cut.
Blitzer asked Obama to define middle class.
Obama replied, You know, I think the definitions are always a little bit rough and said if youre making $100,000 a year or less, then youre pretty solidly middle class On the other hand, if youre making more than $100,000 and certainly if youre making more than $200,000 or $250,000, youre doing pretty well.
The CNN interview was the first one Obama has held since Tuesdays primaries in Indiana and North Carolina. In it, the Illinois senator also discussed his judicial philosophy. Obama, who has delivered constitutional lectures at University of Chicago Law School, said he thought Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a very sensible judge. He also hinted he would place special emphasis on civil rights protections when appointing Supreme Court judges if elected President.
Weve got to make sure civil liberties are protected, Obama said. Because oftentimes there are pressures placed on politicians to want to set civil liberties aside, especially at a time when weve had terrorist attacks. Making sure we maintain our separation of powers so that we dont have a president who is takes over more and more power, I think those are all criteria by which Id judge whether or not this is a good appointee.
And he said he would cut out future weapons systems research and development. This Marxist is a threat to our very survival. He would insure our destruction.
Raising federal income taxes will destroy the economy.
There is only one option to balance the federal budget, and that is to cut spending very deeply.
I'M sorry if you would rather play games with reality and squirm and twist here rather than admit that your guy sat on the Senate floor and voted YES to confirm this semi communist ACLU lawyer bitch.
“What we need is a government that respects the sovereignty of the individuals who earn money and their rights to use it and their property as they see fit....”
That is 180 degrees away from where the Dims are. Dims have so villified individualism, and have so beatified “group” at the expense of individuals, that to even make reference to an individual person is heresy to a Dim.
Which one is running for President and is asking for my vote?
Right.
Obama: I will raise taxes.”
Hoagy62: “I will give you the Big Finger.”
“I’ve heard it all before
And I ain’t-a gonna take any more!
When the goin’ gets tough
You can kiss my ass!”- Ted Nugent, “Kiss My Ass”
We NEED a strong conservative Republican Congress. If McCainiac is heavily favored in the polls leading up to Election Day, how do we possibly convince people to vote GOP instead of Rat down-ballot?
That’s 99 Senators you’ve written off. Good luck with all that.
He said he’d cut funding for space exploration. Yea, one of the biggest draws in science that actually encourages kids to work hard at a decent field of employment and he wants to cut it. But don’t worry, he’ll spend that money on helping the frustrated kids learn how to be unproductive.

My Friends,
We have a lot at stake in this presidential election. As a nation, we face many challenges that will require real leadership from our next president. I have said before that this election will be about the big things, not the small things, and I write to you today about one big issue in particular - the future of the U.S. Supreme Court. If one of my Democratic opponents is elected in November, you can rest assured that given the opportunity to appoint judges, they will appoint those who make law with disregard for the will of the people.
There may be at least two vacancies on the United States Supreme Court during the next presidential term. As president, I will ensure that only those judges who strictly interpret the Constitution of the United States are appointed. I will nominate judges who understand that their role is to faithfully apply the law as written, not impose their will through judicial fiat.
If you want judges who will clearly and completely adhere to the Constitution of the United States and who do not legislate from the bench to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, then I ask that you join my campaign for president today by making a financial contribution.
I am proud to have played a role in the appointment and confirmation of two great Supreme Court justices - Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito I need your support now so that as your president I can nominate judges like Justices Roberts and Alito. Judges who have proven themselves worthy of our trust. Judges who take as their sole responsibility the enforcement of laws made by the people’s elected representatives. Judges who can be relied upon to respect the values of the people whose rights, laws and property they are sworn to defend.
My friends, the future of our country and of the Supreme Court is at stake in this election. If either Senator Clinton or Senator Obama is elected - both voted against confirming Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito - they will appoint activist judges. They will appoint judges who legislate from the bench.
I’m sure I don’t have to remind you how important even one vote on the Supreme Court can be. Issues concerning states’ rights, abortion, affirmative action, the Second Amendment and religious freedom have all been decided by a very slim 5-4 margin.
America needs a leader who recognizes that the people and the states should decide what’s best, not the courts. In order to be that leader, I need your financial support immediately.
Please follow this link to make an immediate donation of $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 - any amount up to the legal limit of $4,600.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
John McCain
Thank you, Mr. Mondale for checking in.
if youre making $100,000 a year or less, then youre pretty solidly middle class On the other hand, if youre making more than $100,000 and certainly if youre making more than $200,000 or $250,000, youre doing pretty well.
So how “well” is Barack HUSSEIN doing?
This is a stupid breaking news headline. He released his tax plan like last September or something and this was all there in black and white.
Obama is the “affirmative action” candidate. The guy has never worked a day in his life.
An angry, extreme leftist with a odd sounding name who hates America and wants to raise taxes. Gotta hand it to the Democrats, they really have hit on a winning formula!
Supposedly these are quotes from Obama's books:
From Dreams of My Father: I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.
From Dreams of My Father : I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers race.
From Dreams of My Father: There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.
From Dreams of My Father: It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.
From Dreams of My Father: I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own.
It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.
From Audacity of Hope: I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
Anyone know if these are correct quotes from the books? If so, these are dynamite to be used against him.
Tell me something I don’t know already. If Obama wins, sell your assets and move the money offshore.
I delete unwanted spam.
Why post it on FR?
Even Jim Robinson doesn’t care for McCain.
LOL!
When 99 Seantors run for POTUS, then good luck with that line of false reasoning.
