Supervisor says county spends more than $1 billion a year on benefits to illegals. According to new data from the Department of Public Services, nearly a quarter of Los Angeles County's welfare and food stamp benefits goes directly to the children of illegal aliens, at a cost of $36 million a month. "The total cost for illegal immigrants to County taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year - NOT including the millions of dollars for education," said Antonovich. "With $220 million for public safety, $400 million for healthcare, and $432 million in welfare allocations, illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers." In March, illegals collected over $10 million in welfare assistance and $16 million in food stamp allocations.

Lars Larson was reading this study on radio last night.
And California keeps wondering why it is broke....
If someone finds the meat behind this story, please post it as a new thread (and in its entirety). This can be thrown in the face of a whole lot of politicians, if true.
Coming to the rest of the country soon, folks. Hang on to what’s left of your paychecks.
And wasn’t there a report yesterday that CA is in the hole money-wise? Big time?
Hmmmmmmmmm............
Serious question:
I know LA county covers a very large area, but how can NORMAL law-abiding, hard-working, honest Americans continue to live there?
And I swear Arnie looks more and more like Grey each passing day..
We should all concentrate on one item at a time to hammer our legislooters about. I suggest ending the anchor baby policies which are NOT what was intended for illegal aliens.
This cannot be. The “progressives” (who are the experts on life, the universe, and everything - they tell us so) have told us that the “undocumented workers” benefit the economy. It must be true. Oh, they also told us that there is human-caused global warming. Never mind.
I’m in OC, watching my property values plummet. Right now, it’s kinda hard to get out...
I am SO open to VIABLE suggestions.......
You’re bad. :)
“$36 million a month”
Now that’s alot of heads of lettuce there.
Indiana. Try 1/6 per sqft housing prices, the best medical related tort reform in the union (cheapest to operate health care), and, recently, they’ve been attracting a lot of biotech startups. Not not mention the state’s coffers are full as of late, and, looks like the property taxes disaster is getting taken care of.

Where do they go? I was run out of Southern Oregon by illegal aliens. Moved to the mountains away from it all.....I thought.....a couple miles from me armed Mexican drug cartels are growing dope all over the place.
HOWEVER! On the flip side of that....this mess is now overtaking the whole country. Yea, some areas are still not as bad as the southwest, but hey...
And there IS something to be said for standing up for what you believe in and not giving in to the thugs!!!

And he campaigned more to the right than McCain is.
Cut your losses, sell for what you can,
and buy a bigger, nicer house in the midwest,
and retire on the difference.
You can't really blame the illegals for that -- why should they turn down free money provided by "generous" American elected officials?
If folks really want to clean up that problem, the solution lies in electing a county government that doesn't give away money to illegals.
Instead, I predict this thread will be just another thread full of yapping by folks who can't be bothered to address the problem at its source.
