Our small city got a look at what happens when the fire department unionizes. The fire chief wasn't getting all the money he wanted from the city council. The firefighters joined a union and forced the pay increases. The money for the firefighters raises took ALL the money that had been allocated for all other city employees. Suffice to say that the other employees look upon the firefighters with scorn and anger. They wouldn't offer them a glass of warm pee if they were dying of thirst.
