Al Gore; Eater of the Dead

Al Gore has once again displayed the timing and class that enabled him to help elect George W. Bush President back in 2000. As the dead lie unburied and decaying in Myanmar, after a cyclone hit the country with the impact of Lucifer’s Hammer, the government worries more about its sovereignty than it does its people. Al Gore, like the Fiddling Emperor Nero, worries far more about his showmanship and his pet issue than he does the fact that at least 40,000 people lie dead in the wake of a cataclysmic natural disaster.

Al Gore ironically released his latest counterfactual, pseudo-scientific flatulence on the NPR program “Fresh Air.” He continues to peddle the utterly unsupported theory that Anthropogenic Global Warming causes stronger weather events than would have occurred in the absence of man-made pollution. He prays on the tragic misfortunes of the Burmese people below.

“And as we’re talking today, Terry, the death count in Myanmar from the cyclone that hit there yesterday has been rising from 15,000 to way on up there to much higher numbers now being speculated,” Gore said. “And last year a catastrophic storm from last fall hit Bangladesh. The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

Al Gore does himself no favors by attempting to offer a geophysical gravamen for his exploitation and politicization of the suffering that befalls others in the wake of catastrophic weather events.

“It’s also important to note that the emerging consensus among the climate scientists is although any individual storm can’t be linked singularly to global warming – we’ve always had hurricanes,” Gore said. “Nevertheless, the trend toward more Category 5 storms – the larger ones and trend toward stronger and more destructive storms appears to be linked to global warming and specifically to the impact of global warming on higher ocean temperatures in the top couple of hundred feet of the ocean, which drives convection energy and moisture into these storms and makes them more powerful.”

However, this claim has come under attack from people who work in the field of Meteorology. CNN Meteorologist Rob Marciano profoundly doubts the scientific accuracy of AL Gore’s theories and resented his insinuation, in his movie “An Inconvenient Truth” that Global Warming caused Hurricane Katrina.

"There are definitely some inaccuracies," Marciano added. "The biggest thing I have a problem with is this implication that Katrina was caused by global warming."

Marciano went on to explain that, "global warming does not conclusively cause stronger hurricanes like we've seen," pointing out that "by the end of this century we might get about a 5 percent increase."

So Rob Marciano disputes the linkage between higher temperatures at the base of the Troposphere, higher ocean temperatures near the air-sea interface, and the implicitly greater kinetic energy releases that would jack up the number of Category 5 hurricanes vice Al Gore. What Marciano doesn’t significantly dispute is that Global Warming could be occurring at present and the implicit claim that heat exchange would warm the upper layer of the ocean.

Two out of the three links in AL Gore’s logical chain remain unperturbed. Hence, without further corroboration, Marciano does not debunk Al Gore’s scabrous use catastrophic events to push his political science. Actual scientists have finally started to work on that.

Scientist-cum-Blogger Anthony Watts has read some recent reports from NASA-JPL concerning ocean temperatures in the Pacific. He reports a data graphic from the NASA satellite Aqua, which suggests that the warm air-sea boundary layer that imparts the necessary kinetic energy to drive the legion Hurricane Alberts, has failed to materialize in accordance with the failed presidential candidate’s schedule. Watts quotes from NASA below.

A cool-water anomaly known as La Niña occupied the tropical Pacific Ocean throughout 2007 and early 2008. In April 2008, scientists at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory announced that while the La Niña was weakening, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation—a larger-scale, slower-cycling ocean pattern—had shifted to its cool phase

This leads me to question the fundamental validity of Al Gore’s comprehension of the thermodynamics occurring at the air-sea boundary layer. If this layer grew abnormally warm, this would create a significantly steeper temperature gradient for colder water from the depths to have to rise against. Thermal convection doesn’t easily occur from colder temperatures to warmer. If global warming were a major factor in ocean temperatures, The Pacific Decadal Oscillation should undergo damping, and the ocean temperatures sensed remotely by Aqua should not be getting cold enough to impact larger scale climatologies.

Yet in Nevada, California, this appears to be happening. Their local newspaper reports below.

Nevada County's agricultural commisioner will seek disaster relief from the state after tens of thousands of dollars worth of crops were ruined from last week's freezing temperatures.

Orchard trees, wine grapes and pastures were hardest hit, Pylman said. The commissioner is compiling a report of damages that he will send to the state Office of Emergency Services in coming weeks.

So I’ll see Al Gore’s weather scare-mongering and raise him a soggy, ruined grape. The hurricanes haven’t left our society destitute quite yet because they aren’t getting the boost in kinetic energy that they may have received from a warmer ocean surface. However, this data leads to further theoretical contradictions involving the exchange of physical properties across a fluid boundary layer.

At a small portion, of any fluid boundary, there should be a layer of molecules in each fluid with identical values in every transitive physical property. Temperature has been repeatedly shown to be transitive from higher concentrations to lower ones. At a fluid boundary layer, the two fluids bump temperatures and the warmer fluid loses heat to the cooler fluid via conduction.

Thus, all that hot air resulting from anthropogenic global warming should heat the surface layer of the Pacific Ocean and slant the temperature gradient of the upper ocean athwart the emergence of any cooler water from the depths. Vice “The Day After Tomorrow,” this sort tampering with the ocean temperatures should have an inhibitory effect on the Earth’s General Circulation and prevent the continuing emergence of these cyclical deep water currents.

Thus, if the hurricanes don’t arrive on schedule, and the NASA satellites don’t remotely sense sufficient ocean heat to account for what would happen if the lower Troposphere conspicuously heated, then maybe, just maybe, the science just got resettled. Like the dog that wouldn’t bark in a Sherlock Holmes mystery, something Al Gore’s logical system requires has not behaved in accordance with what the underlying physics suggests.

Since nothing is ever disproven by induction, the ocean temperature divergences from what accepted Global Warming theory suggests do not totally disprove the existence of Global Warming. What they do, however, is expose the cheap and ghoulish histrionics of the maundering high priest of the AGW religion.

At the very least look for this idiot to be “Minister of the Environment” in Comrade Obama’s Politburo.

That's PRECISELY why, all his faults notwithstanding, we need to get out and vote for John McCain in November. We can not afford to let Obama or Her Heinous anywhere NEAR the reins of power; they can do WAY too much damage.

Too bad the Pubs and ole John just don’t speak out on this. But, ole John thinks that GW is real too. Sad. No wonder the Politico today says that Pubs will get killed in Nov. No agenda, no guts. To speak the truth that our voters need.

Gore's Gulfstream. Just one example of a psychotic politician with a Psychotic Green Nobel Prize.

Don't listen to them; they want to make us all crazy.

Q: What is the difference between the Unabomber and the Goreacle?

A: One is a demented fanatic devoted to the destruction of modern civilization and the other is rotting away in a Supermax prison.

The famous climate expert, Al Gore, made the following comment today on NPR:

“And as we’re talking today, Terry, the death count in Myanmar from the cyclone that hit there yesterday has been rising from 15,000 to way on up there to much higher numbers now being speculated,” Gore said. “And last year a catastrophic storm from last fall hit Bangladesh. The year before, the strongest cyclone in more than 50 years hit China – and we’re seeing consequences that scientists have long predicted might be associated with continued global warming.”

[…] “Nevertheless, the trend toward more Category 5 storms – the larger ones and trend toward stronger and more destructive storms appears to be linked to global warming and specifically to the impact of global warming on higher ocean temperatures in the top couple of hundred feet of the ocean, which drives convection energy and moisture into these storms and makes them more powerful.”

You just knew somebody would do it. It is a shame he didn’t take a look at the latest sea-surface temperature anomalies. The above chart is from NOAA’s Satellite Division and was taken from icecap.us where Joe D’Aleo has drawn a circle around the Bay of Bengal where the storm formed and headed east into Myanmar. Notice all the blue (click on the map for a larger view) indicating cooler than average water temperatures. By the way, this storm was only a category three, but why let the facts get in the way of a good story?

I thought you heard the rumors. Algore’s not a robot, he’s a space alien. In July 1947 an alleged UFO crashed near Roswell, NM. Exactly nine months later, Algore was born. Coincidence?
