If anything the Ayers mindset worries me more than Rev Wright who is seen by many a nut but Ayers and his like are more serious people with radical views.

Already in many areas of the country the doctors you see are third world,(possibly educated her maybe not) so if all things are the same why pay and proliferate a ridiculously expensive system here?

Thanks, Snugs.

I didn’t know that Dick Cheney had a bypass. Way back in 1989. another commenter upthread mentioned having a bypass in the late 80’s as well.

Well right there you’ve got, what? Twenty years of life that would likely have been denied?

The docs tell me that once I get this bypass, with medicine and a better diet (I swear I am going to be so good with my health from now on that I will be a spokesperson for good heart health), that I should be hale and hearty for many years to come. He said in ten years, when I might face more clogging, who the hell knows where our medical system will be? Well already there’s Plavix, which prevents clumping, beta-blockers which I take now to keep my heart from going into some rampage of a rapid heartbeat (which, one time, I’m not making this up, lasted three straight hours), Lipitor...to help clear up the sludge in my veins.

And the BEST medicine of all....heh. For a grand total of about a buck a month.....BABY ASPIRIN!

I am one who never paid much attention to such as medicines and hey, I got one prescription for FOUR BUCKS...thanks to the nasty evils at Wal-Mart.

I’ve got a lot to learn and I’ve learned a lot. Again, I am more convinced that the principles of conservatism WIN AGAIN!

This is rich. Democrats are not content in screwing up businesses, so now they will create a new off-shore industry for health care.

I think you’re right on this one too, in that it continues to show Obama in his true colors. IF Obama were to win the Presidency, it would be the greatest con job in history.

Its not all dems doing that, some capitalists are involved as well. One thing we often forget in this country is that billions of people world wide survive on a dollar a day.
Money takes on a whole other meaning abroad.

Juan is faking concern while Brit speaks of Obama's woes with Rev. Wright but deep down today he is jumping for joy over the surge of his gal Mrs. Clinton.

Living in Britain with a NHS medical system I would say emergency treatment such as heart bypass is not the actual problem but getting diagnose in the first place. Normally once diagnosed something like this is acted upon very quickly but often diagnose takes too long and people do not make it because of that.

Many doctors have left the NHS because they are fed up of seeing people 6 months too late had they seen them 6 months before they could have treated them. Often this is not only not cost effective but also has such an emotional effect on a family to be told because you could not afford to go privately your relative cannot be helped in as much a cure but only maintenance treatment until the end.

Many people in Britain to overcome this problem especially as they get older and become even a lower priority pay to see the specialist/consultant who then bucks the system and gets them transferred back to the NHS for immediate treatment. Dad has used this route many times but it means it costs him on average 200 - 300 dollars a month in private medical bills whereas at his age he should be receiving free medical treatment.

It must cost the NHS much more in the emergency ops and radical treatment they have to resort to to treat patients had they seen a few months earlier could have been treated with an early op and after care rather than cutting edge technology because they were seen too late not to speak of the trauma to the rest of the family that also can lead to them seeking medical care.

I understand. But, in our case it’s capitalism taking advantage of opportunity because Democrats screwed it up in the first place.

Take more power and money out of DC and things like this would not be an issue. Just my opinion.

Probably comes down to fact like in Britain of affording it. You will I am sure still be able to pay for private health insurance but will you be able to afford to if you are paying for the government scheme hopefully you will be offered an either or unlike in Britain if you pay privately you still have to pay for the government system.

“Obama’s rise in politics in Chicago meant he had to pander to the black community there, which he did. But so many years of it brain washed him. I don’t believe for one minute that either Obama or his wife did not know or did not agree with all the sentiments of the Rev. Wright.”

I think the sophomoric radical politics is something Obama had before he even arrived in Chicago, and in fact it is the primary common link he could find with the black community there. (And he indeed set himself to pandering to them.)

Many people in Britain actually opted to go to India for treatment as it is often quicker than under the NHS how good it is is open to debate but one hopes if it is arranged through the NHS they are vetting it first.

Another thing the NHS has had to do recently to hit government targets is actually pay the private sector to take some of the pressure off them no doubt the net result of this is higher taxes and national insurance.

Just finished reading Millennial Makeover-myspace, youtube and the future of American politics, written by Morley Winograd and Mike Hais.
It was depressing. The rising generation will change the political landscape. They have been brain washed by their left wing teachers, so Republican ideals will be largely cast aside.

I want my Cardiologist to build another wing on his house from the payment of my health insurance for his care.

I want all the Cardiac surgeons to have swimming pools in their yard and be happy people from the profit they make for fixing my heart. The ability to do same which came from many years of medical school and sacrifice.

I want every damn one of them to make a lot of money on my care. For it’s a selfish world. We all look out for ourselves and this is not a bad thing. The docs look out for themselves and like the roofer I hire to put a roof on my house, they deliver a service.

Which is to fix my heart. They are under no obligation to fix my heart for free. That roofer would not put a roof on my house for no payment, never mind that I’d be living in the elements.

It’s not about socialism. Yes we are a compassionate country and we don’t sit around and twiddle our thumbs while people suffer and die around us.

but if anyone reading this thinks that were I some insurance-less schlub with bad coronary arteries that I’d be getting the same stellar treatment that I’ve been getting, well I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell, cheap.

Sure, there’s government programs and God knows Delaware’s got all kinds of taxpayer provided medical programs. But the docs and hospital ain’t going to do the leg work. The red tape is sticky and infuriating.

Best to get a job and make sure you’ve got medical coverage.

Then you get the best of the best.

Does Obama pull his [White] grandparents out from under the bus for political expediency?

~~~~
This is the MAJOR flaw I rhink Obama has committed. He had perhaps the singularly unique opportunity in all of political history to credibly straddle both the black and white worlds and be a true “prince of peace” sort of candidate.
His white grandparents were so lovingly supportive of him his whole life, especially after his radical white mother ( who married two foreign black men ) died. They were so close to him, helping him and being there for him throughout his college years and afterward.
This is a man who could in all truthfulness have said: I love my family, both sides, and my maternal grandmother has been such a blessing to me .. guiding me, helping me, loving me and being there for me always. He could’ve really shown his real life for what it has been, and given his white side equal emphasis.
But, he got taken in by the separatism and dazzle of the black community he fell in with, and then the Chicago black political and church machine took him over.
That shows his inherent weakness.
He’s half white and half black, but when do you see the white side shown as integral to his heritage and character?
Had he truly spoken from the heart about how much he loves his white grandmother and how grateful he is to both his maternal grandparents who were his rocks (which feelings I’m sure he has), he could’ve really had a chance to open the eyes of white independent and Republican voters to this unique person with initially a very stirring message.
I think he’s basically a gentle soul, with some genuine admiral qualities, but he made a deal with the devil .. parsing the white side to get the black voter bloc and democrat machine operatives, money and backing .. to his everlasting shame, and I think to his ultimate defeat.
And Michelle is NOT a gentle soul. She is his worst enemy, as soon as she opens her mouth. Mean as a snake, calculating and uppity.
He could’ve been a contender .. a real contender. I doubt we’ll ever see someone with such a life story again in politics in our lifetime.
Another word of encouragement for you. A retired doctor at the medical centre I go to had a by pass a few years ago and within months he was back playing outdoor senior hockey and even traveling overseas with his team.
Dear Lord Jesus,
We pray for Fishtalk that you would give her strength and comfort preparing for this surgery. We pray you give the doctors guidance and wisdom during the operation. Give her family comfort and peace.
In your Holy Name,
Amen
