Polls have closed in Louisiana. The big interest is in the sixth congressional district, where Democrats think they can snatch an open seat.
Jenkins has now pulled ahead in EBR. His lead is widening.

268 .38% Randall T. Hayes
Good point. He does currently have a slim lead in the parish. With EBR precincts and just one from Livingston remaining, this will be tight.
This one is not even close. It fills Jindal’s spot.

Yep, my district. :)
Won’t the Jenkins-Cazayoux go to a 2-man runoff if either fail to get to 50% ?
Nope. That’s only for the party primaries. We changed to closed party primaries for federal elections. Tonight’s for the brass ring until November.
OK. So far, it looks like the votes aren’t matching the polling data we’ve been seeing lately for that contest (thankfully).
We had a strong storm system blow through here this morning, so it may have surpressed turnout. That, and the black Democrat who lost the primary has sent out a whisper campaign for black voters to stay home because he plans to run again in November.
Not good...

I was noticing that at least 2 of the other candidates running are either Conservative or Republican (Hayes & Casey), always troublesome for us when we don’t have a completely unified field on our side. Casey alone (a former Buddy Roemer and Susan Molinari employee) could keep Jenkins from victory.
Now he’s back up...

Crap. If we do lose this, Miss Casey will be the reason here with her 4%.
Moment of truth/LA GOP
No question. Who in this race is more conservative than Woody? She’s just a RINO magnet.
It’s like the 1974 contest for this seat all over again.
We lost.
