Illegal alien Hizballah-linked FBI agent worked on major terror

Madness -- politically correct madness. The FBI showed it wasn't anti-Arab by hiring Nada Prouty, and she handsomely repaid them for it, too. Nada Nadim Prouty Update:
"Fake citizen worked on major terror cases," by David Ashenfelter for the Detroit Free Press (thanks to Sr. Soph):

Nada Prouty, the Lebanese immigrant who parlayed a sham marriage into U.S. citizenship and key jobs at the FBI and CIA, worked on several counter-terrorism investigations, including the 2000 bombing of the U.S.S. Cole in Yemen, her lawyer said in court documents Thursday.

"Nada Nadim Prouty accepts full responsibility for her actions and is deeply sorry for her misconduct," attorney Thomas Cranmer of Troy wrote in a 32-page sentencing memo filed in U.S. District Court in Detroit, for her sentencing May 13. Thursday's filing offered the first details of what the former Taylor resident did for the government.

"With her language skills and cultural background, Ms. Prouty made invaluable contributions working on highly sensitive and often dangerous counter-terrorism cases," Cranmer wrote, urging U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn to sentence her to probation rather than 6-12 months in prison as recommended by federal sentencing guidelines.

Seventeen sailors were killed in the Oct. 12, 2000, suicide attack on the Navy guided missile destroyer U.S.S. Cole.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth Chadwell said he couldn't comment on Cranmer's filing.

Prouty pleaded guilty in November to accessing a classified FBI computer system to find out whether she or her family members -- including brother-in-law Talal Chahine, fugitive owner of the La Shish restaurant chain -- were being investigated for terrorist activities and to obtain information about Hizballah investigations.

"At no time did she ever compromise or jeopardize the integrity of her case assignments through improper behavior or inappropriate conduct," Cranmer said, adding that CIA polygraph tests confirmed that Prouty did not pose a threat to national security....

She also helped investigate the 2002 assassination of U.S. AID diplomat Lawrence Foley in Jordan and helped link the slaying to Abu Musab al-Zarkqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq.

After joining the CIA in 2003, Cranmer said, she worked in Baghdad following the American invasion.

"Through the sixth month of her pregnancy, Ms. Prouty was in the streets of a city at war in order to protect the American forces fighting there," Cranmer wrote. "On a number of occasions, she was trapped out side the safety of the U.S. Green Zone and was fired on before she was exfiltrated to safety."

Prouty resigned from the CIA last November before pleading guilty in Detroit. In pleading guilty, she surrendered her U.S. citizenship and agreed to be deported, though she likely will be allowed to stay in the U.S. because of the jobs she held at the FBI and CIA, authorities said.

Although authorities said there was no evidence that Prouty was a Hizballah operative, the episode raised questions about how she cleared multiple federal background checks to acquire U.S. citizenship and land jobs at two of the nation's most sensitive intelligence agencies without someone discovering that she had engaged in citizenship fraud....

Uh, yeah. Is anyone answering those questions, and making sure this can't happen again?

Forget an Obama administration, the Bush administration is on the wrong side.

Good thing the FBI didn’t label her a Jihadist. The Bush administration would have freaked.

Why do we always let these people off with something that isn’t even a wrist-slap? The judge makes her sound like a hero.

What is it going to take to convince us that we’re digging our own grave? Or maybe we don’t care...

About those CIA polygraph tests...

"In 1986 and again in 1991, [Aldrich] Ames passed two polygraph screening examinations while spying for the Soviet Union and Russia, respectively."

Ironically, due to some bad luck over the last several years;I will never be hired for the better jobs in my field. I was falsely charged with a number of A&B’s;the second time;frivolously and maliciously by the CLEO in my old Ma. residence.I know THAT cost me a few opportunities, among them a position with the Border Patrol and Canine Enforcement with Customs....I guess they only do serious checks on non-citizens.

Chop off her f-ing head and plaster the video of the beheading all over the internet. Do it in Gitmo.

“Whoops, am I too intense?”

NO!

http://www.fbi.gov/page2/nov07/prouty111307.html

Here are the facts and timeline of the case:

On June 24, 1989, Prouty first entered the U.S. on a student visa.

To stay in the U.S. illegally, she paid a U.S. citizen to get married to her on August 9, 1990. She never lived with the husband she married fraudulently, but instead resided in Michigan with her sister and another man.

Using a series of false and forged documents, Prouty was granted U.S. citizenship in 1994 under the name “Nada Nadim Deladurantaye.” She later divorced her “husband.”
During parts of 1992, 1993, and 1994, Prouty worked for Talal Khalil Chahine, owner of a chain of Middle Eastern restaurants in Detroit. Chahine is a fugitive currently wanted for a series of crimes, including concealing some $20 million in cash and sending money to Lebanon.

In April 1999, using the name “Nada Nadim Alley” and her fraudulently obtained citizenship papers, Prouty was hired as a special agent of the FBI. She worked at our Washington field office on a squad that investigated crimes against U.S. persons overseas. She did not work on cases involving Hizballah.

In September 2000, after Prouty’s sister married Chahine, Prouty used our computerized Automated Case System to improperly query information on herself, her sister, and her brother-in-law. In June 2003, she also used this system to get information on an investigation into Hizballah by our Detroit office.

In June 2003, Prouty left the FBI and was hired by the CIA, again by using false information and documents. She resigned that position on November 6.
“We became aware of this compromise in December 2005 and moved to address any further damage,” said Willie T. Hulon, Executive Assistant Director of our National Security Branch. “The FBI worked closely with other agencies to investigate this matter. We continue to evaluate our security practices and will make any necessary changes.”

There are reports that Prouty and her attorney are attempting to get her sentence reduced to “probation”. This is happening in Detroit. Prouty’s sentencing date is may 13, 2008.
