If you have a free day around Phoenix, take the Apache Trail to Canyon Reservoir, if not take Schnebly Hill Rd from I-17 into Sedona. That’s a thrill all it’s own. :^)

Yep. It is a memory of a lifetime for me, that kid. Mostly, because as you said, not all entertainers are yucky. ZZ Top is proof of that for me. My brother was driving rapid rover (not sure if that’s regional) and had Boys to Men as passengers and such a different experience for him. And my niece is a waitress in philly and waited on Will Smith and can’t stop gushing over it since he was so sweet and a great tipper too.

I almost did that on Schnebley Hill road, but I was driving the family sedan and didn’t trust the clearance. My son took his S-10 that way, and we came in from Camp Verde.
But, coming down i-17 from Schnebley Hill into the Verde Valley at 85MPH was a blast!!
Luckily, there weren’t any slowpokes in front of us - I’m not sure I could have slowed down safely!
