Hello Folks:
It's May 1st and I'd like to ask you for a little help. The current Freepathon started on April 1st. Here we are a month later and the total given or pledged is sputtering toward the finish line. I appreciate everyone's constributions to date. It's impressive that we come together like this to support the forum. Despite the great job that has been done, I still think we can do better.
We are still thousands from the goal. I'd like to put a big dent in the amount remaining to be covered. Will some of you please join me to end this today.
As soon as I hit the post key, I am going to contribute $100 more to the Freepathon. I would appreciate it if others would join me, and we could retire this Freepathon by late this afternoon.
Those who can, please join me with $100. Those who can't, how about $50 or $25.
We're not that far from the goal. A little over Fifty of us could end this thing. Are there fifty of you out there willing to join me?
How about it?
Thanks in advance to those who do join me. I appreciate it and I know Jim and John will also.
Some of us don’t....
I know... I run servers myself. Anyway, I just tossed some more $ their/your way.
I’ve lived in Texas, lived in California.
Honestly, I prefer Texas.
And I appreciate that you did. Thank you.
Frankly, it would be a much better gift if they would keep the money and get spending under control. I’m not a happy camper that we’ll be getting an electronic deposit.
That’s okay, there are facilities out there to help folks like you. ;-)
Californians, are you going to take that!!!!
Who WOULDN’T? I was just funnin’ with you.......we’re looking to move out of here, ourselves...
It’s a long standing joke on the Freepathon threads...the TX vs CA thing.
No offense meant...
No problem, I'll just cancel my NYT, LAT and WAPO subscriptions to cover it. :-)
LOL. Good for you.
$50 from NC.
No, I’m not wondering where it goes.
As my father said...
When it leaves my pocket, it’s gone. :-)
Things are starting to get REAL UGLY at my house....
My coffee maker just went kapootz AND I NEED MORE COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
$50 from mostly lurker in PA. Sorry it took so long, kept forgetting. Thanks for the nudge!
Even though certain media outlets have requested (in a couple of cases via lawsuits) not to have full articles from their sites posted here, FR does allow a huge amount of copyrighted material to be displayed, and without that we wouldn’t have much of a forum. BUT the right to use copyrighted material under the legal exceptions for study and research purposes is tied to NOT using it to make money. That’s why FR can’t have paid advertising or charge a membership fee for posting rights.
No offense taken.
Life can be good, no matter where you are.
I am *this* close to going postal.
*THIS* close....!!!
Make that “<<<<<< RUN! >>>>>>”
The HTML ate the word run.
OMG...everyone clear the room...she's gonna BLOW!
Yes Brad’s Gramma. Moving back VERY slowly... yes Brad’s Gramma... my you look nice to today Brad’s Gramma...
(Wheels and runs...)
On the other hand, your post to me clearly indicates one of the problems within freerepublic - I simply stated my concern relating to the level of expense and a possible remedy for the problem. You come back at me questioning my post, basically stating that I don’t think it’s a good idea to support the forum.
Logically, don’t you need to ‘convert’ those that have concerns versus pushing them away - is it not our right to question freerepublic practices prior to giving money? I’m fully aware that freerepublic has no obligation to respond to those concerns. You post to me just seems strange, actually more than passingly strange.
Why not provide a high level recap of income versus expense? I’d be more than willing to consider donating if I understood the numbers. Most posters here a big on numbers.
