**I published this on 3/17, but felt it worth re-publishing after the latest example of Obama pretending to be shocked by the racist Rev. Wrights actions**
Many in the newsmedia are reacting with quite restraint to the revelations of comments by Obam's racist "spiritual mentor," Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. Imagine if this were a Republican politician linked to such outrageous talk and you'll realize how the MSM has been studiously underplaying this controversy. A benefit of the doubt seems to be the rule of thumb for how the media is treating Obama, a benefit that would be denied a GOP candidate.
But, as ABC's Jake Tapper asked concerning Obama's knowledge of Wright's racist rants: What did Obama know and when did he know it? In this posting Tapper finds that Obama was distancing himself from Wright a year ago causing the question to be raised if Obama long ago wondered if Wright would be a liability? But, there is video of Obama lovingly introducing Wright even after that proving not only that Obama is very, very close to Rev. Wright, but also that he was not distancing himself from the man at all.
On June 5th, 2007, Senator Barack Obama spoke before 8,000 people gathered in Hampton University's Convocation Center. Most of them were pastors and ministers attending a conference there.
He was there to speak on mostly post Katrina issues and to criticize the Bush administration's efforts during that natural disaster. Obama tried his catch phrase of the moment, saying that a "quiet riot" might be occurring in America and he affirmed that he felt that America was a racist nation, that the reaction to Katrina had just "pulled back the screen" on America's racism. Obama also used rhetoric heavily doused with religious symbolism.
But, that boiler plate aside, there was two very interesting segments in Obama's remarks concerning his racist "spiritual mentor," Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. that are not getting the press it deserves. (See the video at Channel 2 News Chicago)
He was effusive in his praise and admiration for Wright, this foaming at the mouth, hate monger. This runs contrary to his late claims that he is somehow shocked by Wright's racism, or that he now disagrees with him as well as his claim that he was not familiar enough with Wright to know of his point of view.
As the speech kicked off (at 1:07 into the video), Obama introduced the Rev. Wright to the audience with these glowing and highly personal words:
And then I've got to give a special shout out to my Pastor. The guy who puts up with me, counsels me, listens to my wife complain about me. He's a friend and a great leader not just in Chicago but all across the country, so please everybody give an extraordinary welcome to my pastor Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr., Trinity United Church of Christ.
Where's he at? There he is. That's him, that's him right there.
You wearing a suit today, right?
This reveals a very intimate portrait of Obama and Wright's relationship. Notice the last bit where Obama jokes about Wright's penchant for wearing an Afrocentric style of dress and that his wearing of a suit at that event was uncommon. These are the remarks of a close friend to another loved intimate, not the words of a man making perfunctory comments.
Later in his comments Obama mentioned Wright again. (At 13:43 in the video)
You know, I've been on a journey trying to get at the truth that question for a long time. I mention Rev. Wright... I first met Rev. Wright when I moved to Chicago after college.
And that's where I met Rev. Wright and started going to Trinity United Church of Christ and he helped me on another journey and introduced me to someone named Jesus Christ. And I learned that my sins could be redeemed. I learned that those things that I was too weak to accomplish myself, maybe he could accomplish them for me if I placed my trust in him. And I learned that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when they believe in him and they come together and are guided by him.
So, we see that Obama obviously had a close, long-term relationship with Wright not a casual one where Obama might have missed the Reverends long-standing agenda.
It is also interesting that Obama's rhetoric was so steeped in evangelical Christian rhetoric. Isn't a fanatic Christianity one of the charges so often leveled by the left against president Bush? Dont they so often say that he is somehow too religious? And, how often did we hear from the MSM how controversial Bush (or any Republican) was for delivering a speech before Bob Jones University?
And remember, Bush just went to make a single speech at Bob Jones University and the media slammed him for months afterward. Yet, Barack has had an intimate, 20-year relationship with Wright who has vehemently called for God to damn America and the media yawns at the news.
In light of the criticism of Bushs injecting too much religion in his presidency or that his administration is just like a Christian Taliban, it is also a legitimate question to ask, where are those same accusers when this 2007 speech by Barack Obama is so filled with religious fervor? Where are the anti-religious left and the so-called separation of Church and Staters at now?
In fact, this entire speech is filled with nothing but class warfare, expansions of social programs, raising the minimum wage, typical great society type junk all couched squarely as a civic responsibility enmeshed with Obama's view of Biblical precepts.
Now, as far as what Obama knew of Rev. Wright's racist comments and when he knew it, ABC's Jake Tapper is right on when he notes that Obama had dis-invited Wright from delivering the public invocation at his candidacy announcement more than a year ago. This obviously reveals that Obama had begun to distance himself from Wright before he announced formally for the presidency. It is plain that Obama knew of Wright's problematic ranting long before his sudden claim that he is shocked by Wright's past rhetoric.
Unfortunately for the truth, when the questions were finally put to him on March 14th, Obama played dumb saying, "I wasn't in church during the time that these statement were made. I did not hear such incendiary language myself, personally. Either in conversations with him or when I was in the pew, he always preached the social gospel. ... If I had heard them repeated, I would have quit. ... If I thought that was the repeated tenor of the church, then I wouldnt feel comfortable there."
Even back in April of 2007 The New York Times quoted Wright that he'd already talked with Barack about his controversial relationship with the ranting Reverend.
"If Barack gets past the primary, he might have to publicly distance himself from me," Mr. Wright said with a shrug. "I said it to Barack personally, and he said yeah, that might have to happen."
This fully reveals that Wright understands that his views are controversial, that Barack was fully aware of them, and that they are both complicit in trying to cover up these facts in order to fool people into a false perception of the truth.
But, as the video from Chicagos Channel 2 shows that, until recently, Obama never did fully separate himself from Rev. Wright.
With all the proof of how Barack Obama has been so close to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Jr. for the last 20 years, it stretches credulity to imagine that Obama never heard of Wright's hatespeech before. And as Wright blames whites for all the ills of the black community, while Wright claims that America deserved 9/11 and that whites created AIDS to kill blacks, Obama has the gall to claim that its everyone else stirring the racial rhetoric.
Watch this speech by Obama and see who is stirring the racial rhetoric. During his own campaign, Obama has cleaned up Wright's racist hate but make no mistake that the message that Wright has so often bellowed from the pulpit is nearly identical to Obamas on the campaign trail. Obama has learned well from Rev. Wright. Hes learned well, indeed.
The conservative blogosphere is aflame with Obamas links to Wright. But the biggest question is: will the Mainstream Media let this controversy die, will they decide its old news like they do so very often, or will they pursue it, connecting the dots, like they should?
What do you think?
If Obama according to his words barely knew his Muslim father, didn’t realize his 20 year preacher was racist until a few days ago, to whom did he really listen for his spirituality and what does he really believe?

We ARE judged by the company we keep...and why not? Any one of us parents has most likely had to guide our kids away from the loser/troubled/trouble-making kids in their youth. (It only took ONE incident of my son getting into trouble due to other problem kids to wise him up.)
I don’t see this as any different. We ARE who we associate with. Hang with America-Haters and Commies? Gee. Isn’t it OBVIOUS where your sympathies lie? (Hillary!, too.)
FYI
Of course, two narcissists... one sociopathic, one psychopathic.
For Obama to say that Wright's rant of a couple of days ago is worse than the vile, hateful, racist, venom he spewed prior to that for over 20 years is absolutely (and once again INSULTING) ridiculous!!
Obama admits he was a 'close friend'.
Obama admits Wright was his 'mentor'.
Obama admits Wright was his 'Spiritual Advisor'.
Wright was his pastor.
Wright married the Obamas.
Wright baptized their children.
And only NOW does Obama realize 'what Wright is all about'?????
If that's the case--we should give Obama a 'pass' for stupidity and naivete', but disqualify him from our nation's highest office FOR THOSE VERY SAME REASONS!!
Please re-post here the excellent and spot-on analysis you posted on another thread earlier today. It bears repeating.
Leni
Either has Obama. But he has learned well how to lie about it.
If if wasn't for Sean Hannity--Obama would have never, NEVER condemned any of Wright's comments!!! The American people owe Sean Hannity a 'debt of gratitude' for that one.
After all, he sat there for 20 years and NEVER SAID A WORD. Why doesn't he state publicaly whether or not he told his 'close friend' that he was outraged by his close friend's comments?
This is golden:
“And then I’ve got to give a special shout out to my Pastor. The guy who puts up with me, counsels me, listens to my wife complain about me. He’s a friend and a great leader not just in Chicago but all across the country, so please everybody give an extraordinary welcome to my pastor Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr., Trinity United Church of Christ. “
“great leader”...
"I can no more disown him (Wright) than I can disown the black community." - Barack HUSSEIN Obama
So if Obama's speech yesterday essentially declared that he disowned Wright, then one must conclude that he has also just disowned the black community.

Great post!!! Does that also means he has disowned his grandmother?
I think they’re playing good cop/bad cop.
Hmmmm, just wondering here. Wright "baptized" Obama's children but.........has Obama ever been "baptized"? He says Wright led him to be a Christian. If that is so, he would have been "baptized" in the practice and teaching and requirements of the church.
I wonder if Obama had to exhibit belief in “BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY” (something that Wright claims is so important) before any baptisms could take place.
“Please re-post here the excellent and spot-on analysis you posted on another thread earlier today. It bears repeating.”
Here it is:
Something smells rotten in the Hood. Heres my take on it. I think Obama and Wright are as thick as thieves, I think they are in total cahoots. I think everything that has happened in the past week has been planned and masterminded between Obama and Wright and perhaps one or two other key players on Obamas campaign staff. I think everything has been coordinated.
Preacher Wright comes out and does his round of inflammatory speeches at the NAACP, and the Natl Press Club, and in his Bill Moyers interview. Funny that these three are all clustered within days of each other, all at once. As Obama blew his first chance at refuting Wright for his behavior for the last 20 years, both of them thinking the whole issue would die down, Obama needed a second bite of the apple. A second chance to condemn the Reverend Wright. Hence the setup. Wright does his radical religious/political rap thing three times, and Obama then says hes finally had enough and condemns and refutes and sort of disowns (however if you listen to Obamas words, he really doesnt) Preacher Wright.
Now it looks as if the two of them are at great odds and no longer like each other, right? Wrong, in the sense that this was the desired end result, to make it look like they are now at odds. Mission accomplished. Obama is now off the hook. Obama even makes sure he has an out in the very careful, slow speaking manner with which he refuted his mentor. He says Wright may do more of the same kind of speech, but he, Obama, wont be responsible for it as he cant do anything to stop Wright, and has now disowned Wright anyhow. Isnt this Machiavellian? Isnt this fun?
Now for the proof of my thinking. Preacher Wright and Obama have known each other for 20 years, both in and out of the church pew. Obama went on Louis Farrakhans million man march. Obama named his book after a phrase used by Rev. Wright, The Audacity of Hope. They are very close. Obama knows exactly where Wright is coming from, both theologically and politically. And (heres the kicker) vice versa. Wright knows everything about Obama too. He knows how Obama really thinks politically, after all Preacher Wright groomed him for the last 20 years, or perhaps indoctrinated would be a better word. Wright knows what Obama has said to him over the years, has done for and with him over the last 20 years, and has the goods on Obama big time. Wright could blast Obama into space and out of the presidential race on a politically dirty rocket in a nanosecond. Wright probably knows more about Obamas inner workings, shady deals back in Chicago, connections to Obamas political benefactor Tony Rezko now up on influence peddling and other charges back in Chicago, and may have been in on some of those deals himself. Wright could take Obama down faster than greased lightening if he wanted to. But he wont. Because they are working in tandem. They are still joined at the hip, and what we are seeing this past week is all a charade, a Potemkin village, smokey (until that became un-PC) backroom dealings to get Obama out of hot water in the political short and long run for his relationship with Wright.
Mark my words here; my political antennae are waving in the breeze. And to top it off (I believe this is coming out of Obamas camp too), the blogs are buzzing around that somehow Preacher Wright and Hillary Clinton are working behind the scenes to undermine Obama, and that Hillarys camp was somehow involved in setting up financially some of what Wright was up to this past week. I think a whisper campaign of its all Hillarys fault that this is happening has been let loose on the internet to shift the blame for Wrights actions of late on her. How convenient. Obama isnt behind this, why its Hillary. And the MSM are swallowing it whole. The MSM in general hate Hillary and will blame anything and everything on her. They will believe anything about her. Never mind, as I stated before, that Wright/Obama have a 20 year relationship, and that Wright could bring Obama down so fast his head would spin with what Wright knows about Obama and how he really thinks. Its Hillary and her henchmen to blame.
Obama and Wright must be laughing up their sleeves at how a naive and lazy press that is on Obamas side anyhow in this race, will swallow this. Tell me, does anyone really think that Wright and Hillary got together to get Obama? Do you not think that Wright wants Obama in the White House where Wright can have all sorts of influence on his protege? That Wright wants to be kingpin at the National Prayer Breakfasts? That he wants all that access to grants or funding for his church causes? That he wants to push his own peculiar brand of church politics? His Black Liberation Theology? You better believe he wants Obama in as President. They both just have to get over this little speed bump of whether Obama secretly thinks just like Wright does, and is really a divider disguising himself as a uniter, fooling us all. Preacher Wright knows exactly where Obama is coming from. If he blows the whistle on Obama publicly on what he knows, then I am wrong. If Wright doesnt, well, then draw your own conclusions. Ive drawn mine.
“Hmmmm, just wondering here. Wright “baptized” Obama’s children but.........has Obama ever been “baptized”? He says Wright led him to be a Christian. If that is so, he would have been “baptized” in the practice and teaching and requirements of the church.”
No record of any baptism. Chicago reporters looked into it. I asked the question a long time ago and another Freeper then took it up and contacted Chicago reporters. Obama walked down the aisle of Wright’s Church to proclaim his faith, but no official baptism that anyone can find.
Thanks for the ping AV
Have talked to a few dems this morning
who were leaning to Boma and they ain’t buying
