Obama's "big press conference" on Wright

Scroll down for press conference blogging…

What, pray tell, could Barack Obama possibly say now to undo the damage of his two decades of bad judgment about Jeremiah Wright?

Will he weigh in on black liberation theology? Wright's phrenological discourse? How about Wright's defense of his comparison between the Roman soldiers who killed Jesus and the US Marine Corps?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Maybe we'll find out:

Obama was asked about Rev. Jeremiah Wright just now by a woman in Winston-Salem who tells the audience to watch his PBS interview, which will quell their concerns.

"I'm going to be having a big press conference afterward to talk about this," he responded, then referred back to a story the woman told about a mother having to borrow month to get to work.

"This is diverting attention from the first story that you told," Obama said.

So, he's advising supporters to watch the Bill Moyers interview. What about the NAACP and National Press Club diatribes?

2:00pm Eastern. Here we go. Barack press conference is on:

"I'm outraged by the comments that were made and saddened by the spectacle. The person that I saw yesterday was not the person I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate. I believe they do not accurately portray the perspective of the black church. They certainly don't portray mine. If he considers this political posturing, then he doesn't know me very well. And I don't know him well either."

AIDS conspiracy: "Ridiculous proposition."

Farrakhan support and analogy of Marines/terrorism: "They offend me. They rightly offend all Americans. They should be denounced. And that's what I'm doing clearly and unequivocally here today."

Thanks to Obama crediting the Rev. Jeremiah Wright as his 'Mr. Everything' in life, Rev. Jeremiah Wright singlehandedly has brought the Democratic frontrunner to his knees. Obama is TOAST!

Now we know the reason why Rev. Jeremiah Wright has The Nation bodyguards. To keep the crazy supporters of Obama away from him.

This thing has not hit critical mass yet but when it does the Democratic Party will implode all over itself.

"Personally, I'd love to see the GOP run a black candidate -- not Alan Keyes, and not Condi Rice. But I'd be thrilled to vote for a good black conservative."

A Walter Willaims or a younger Thomas Sowell, perhaps.

I can just see Jeremiah Wright winking and telling his admirers, “Barack doesn’t mean those things he’s saying today. He’s just saying what a politician has to say.”...And you, know, he’s actually right about something for a change.

Wright is very cagy and smart, many times smarter than Baraq. He knows exactly what he is doing. I couldn't tell you why, though.

Wright got to where he is with his fortune without the aid of affirmative action. The Obamas have had the affirmative action crutch their whole lives and it has crippled them.

Three Dog Night may sing this at Democratic National Convention:

“Jeremiah was a bullfrog
Was a good friend of mine
I never understood a single word he said
But I helped him a-drink his wine
And he always had some mighty fine wine
Singin’...

Joy to the world
All the boys and girls now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me”

“I couldn’t tell you why, though.”

He likes the cameras. He’s his own man. I’m looking forward to his response. If he does it funny and not too angry, Obama is toast.

Both Democrats are beatable.

Heated campaign souring Democrats on rival candidates [scroll down though other politics stories]

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic Party members increasingly dislike the presidential contender they are not supporting in the bruising nomination fight between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, an Associated Press-Yahoo News survey and exit polls of voters show.

That is raising questions about how faithful some will be by the November general election.

In the AP-Yahoo poll — which has tracked the same 2,000 people since November — Obama supporters with negative views of the New York senator have grown from 35 percent in November to 44 percent this month, including one-quarter with very unfavorable feelings.

Those Obama backers who don't like Clinton say they would vote for Republican candidate John McCain over her by a two-to-one margin, with many undecided.

As for Clinton supporters, those with unfavorable views of Obama have grown from 26 percent to 42 percent during this same period — including a doubling to 20 percent of those with very negative opinions.

The Clinton backers with unfavorable views of Obama say they would vote for McCain over him by nearly three-to-one, though many haven't made up their minds.

Let's campaign for a brokered Democrat convention! As long as these two contnue duking it out, neither can win.

You and many others on Freerepublic are under the misguided notion that Hillary will be easy pickings in November. What you are not factoring in is that Hillary and Bill STEAL elections. You can’t let their names be anywhere near a voting ballot. In 92 no one can convince me that they weren’t in collusion with Perot to divide the vote. In 96 there were millions of illegal aliens voting in key areas that helped carry Clinton to victory again.

When he was governor of Arkansas, he won close elections because his supporters, who worked as precinct captains and vote counters, held the absentee ballots and didn’t count them until they saw how many votes they needed.

Hillary was not supposed to win California but did because in Los Angeles County, where the Mayor was a supporter of hers, there were “voting machine irregularities”. That county was supposed to go for Obama, but went for Hillary instead.

In the exit polls, Obama always has more votes than actually are counted officially. The reason he does better in caucuses is because there is very little opportunities for voter fraud because they usually are not secret ballots.

If she gets the nomination, whe will WIN! I’m sick to my stomach right about now at the thought.

I recognize that Obama is easier to beat but I also recognize that Hillary was going to win this primary. It was a done deal.

“Let’s campaign for a brokered Democrat convention! As long as these two contnue duking it out, neither can win.”

But these two are not duking it out. When was the last attack you heard against Hillary, by Rush, Hannity, or Obama? Hillary is grinning like the Cheshire Cat, being left alone getting stronger every day while Obama is on defense. She is back to saying “when” she becomes president in a speech she gave about oil and gas prices today.

“Both Democrats are beatable. “

See my Comment #76.
