The evil father who locked up his daughter in a cellar for 24 years and fathered her seven children was pictured on a 'boys holiday' to Thailand in the 1990s, it has been revealed.
Josep Friztl is believed to have stockpiled food in the dungeon where Elisabeth and her three children were being held.
The four were expected to survive alone for up to two weeks until Fritzl returned. Snaps of the electrical engineer enjoying himself were made public for the first time today.
They come as it was revealed that Fritzl has told police he acted alone.
He has told detectives he was not helped to keep his Elisabeth and their children hidden in his cramped basement.
But police are not yet convinced he is telling the truth and are investigating how he could have bought food and clothes for them without anyone suspecting.
The 73-year-old pensioner, who has now been confirmed as the father of all Elisabeth's children, was today remanded in custody for two weeks.

It was an apartment building, not a single family dwelling. There’s probably all kinds of noise from other tenants. Looked to be at least 3 stories. I know from a friend who lived in an apartment building that she never went into the basement. It was kind of an isolated area and she felt a little apprehensive about her safety there.
The daughter was only 11 when the rape started, when she was 18, he drugged her restrained her, then kept her in the basement. After the kids were born, he probably controlled her out of fear of what he would do to them.
Oh he did? Where's that? I just went through the last page of John's posting history and see no posts to you at all. Could you provide some documentation for that?
I was thinking more like a house. You’re right though, that with an apartment building, there’d be noise coming from other sources.
I also realize that personality and conditioning play into it. And there’s the possibility that maybe he kept her drugged at a low level
Of course when one of the children died, he put it in the furnace and burned the body.
“I’m waiting for all those apologists that want to criticize the government for stepping in and freeing that poor woman and her kids.
“You know, the same idiots that believe those young girls were far better off being raped by old men in that church compound in Texas that being held in foster homes.”
I guess you are right because I don’t believe that those girls were better off on the compound! Play coy all you want, you know exactly the type of baiting you are advancing here. Since he/she hasn’t responded in an intelligent manner other than “don’t know, don’t care,” I guess it is left up to others to answer for him/her. Thanks but I will wait to hear rebuttal from the person to whom I posted. after-all had this been a hand-to-hand, free for all experience I would welcome all who would like to participate with me.
Yes the child who died was one of a set of twins that didn’t make it. If I were to guess, I would think that Elisabeth was too malnourished for both twins to develop healthily.
So why’d you flip?
No one mentioned you by name and you act like he personally insulted you.
Why’d you react like he was talking about you?
What’s the matter? Guilty conscience?
Proverbs 28:1
Ain’t that the truth.
To both, actually.
It’s strange how he had all those corridors and different rooms. I wonder why he didn’t just have one large room and put walls up. Of course, in the beginning there may have just been one room and then he added on through the years.
“Incest dungeon daughter’s tearful reunion with mother 24 years after she was locked away”
I miss the obvious from time to time, but that mother was living in the same house and didn’t go down there in 24 years? Okay, giving her the benefit of the doubt, she’s got to be dumb as a post.
Are you his/her spokeman/spokewoman? Can’t he/she speak for himself/herself?
How much more are you going to twist what is obviously not to you? I must have forgotten where I printed “metmom” in the “to:” line. Can I get an honest debate out of you or just more baiting? who are you to say he wasn’t making inferrences for those of us who asked the question of Constitutionality in other cases debated here. I am done responding to you and will wait for the response from

Would you look for secret passages to sound proofed dungeons behind hidden locked electrical panels in your husband’s basement workshop? The one he claimed was his private space, and which appeared to be just another smelly wood shop with saws and paint and stuff?
I think that is incorrect. Look at the picture.
From Article:The outside of the house in Amstetten, Austria, where a 73-year-old man reportedly kept his daughter captive in the cellar for 24 years. DNA tests are being conducted to verify charges that he fathered several children by her." (AP Photo/Helmut Stamberg)
These are like houses in San Francisco where they are built right next to each other. In another picture I saw you could see where each had there own back yards. If you go to posting #53 you will see the labyrinth. The laundry and workshop area were directly underneath the house but the rest was built out into the backyard.
It’s not clear to me what everyone is so worked up about. This is just an alternative lifestyle and every bit as natural as the lifestyles of the oppressors. I sure Mr. Fritzl is OK with who he is. In fact, he probably already has an agent booking Oprah. Perhaps he’s planning an “Incest Gramps Pride Parade” as I type.

None of this makes any sense; I wonder how much is lost in translation from the Austrian reports.
Forget about how no one could have noticed all these people living in a basement with ventilation for cooking, etc. (as stated); or the unusual utility bills; etc.
I can’t imagine how some of the kids wound up being “adopted” by Fritzl and his apparently batty wife, simply on the basis of them having “showed up” in their doorway over several years. I believe this was reported, unless, again, something got lost in translation. I know I’ve read this odd fact in several articles so far, but who knows whether the press has this right.
That is, three of the kids (at least) actually lived upstairs with gramps and, presumably, would have known that the old bastard was the father and would have remembered him when he came down into the dungeon. None of that ever crossed their lips for those years? No one noticed any familial resemblance between just those kids (think there were three who lived with gramps, weren’t there?).
How was this guy able to build that whole complex down there—it was actually larger than his own apartment, wasn’t it? No one noticed all the hammering and sawing, etc.? Did you notice that the place looks new? That it’s actually decorated? That the kids put drawings on the walls? Most incredibly, that they had a TV?
I have no idea what to think about this. It’s beyond weird. There’s clearly a lot that we don’t know since virtually nothing about this makes any sense right now.
Dude... I don’t ever recall posting to you. Leave me out of it...

It's my understanding from reading several reports that the "adopted" children were infants when they showed up. As for the rest of the points you raised, like so many things about this story, it doesn't make any sense.
