This seems like about the unlikeliest match in recent political history, especially since, last I knew, Keyes had left the GOP and was stll running for President.
I don't think he'd accept if asked at this point. Not that I think Juan McVain will ask him.
For one thing, McCain does have a bit of an ego and he needs someone lower key than Keyes as his running mate.
However, it does show just how desperate Juan McVain is to keep conservtives in The Big Tent (as a sideshow.)

This story is so bogus it’s not even funny. However, Keyes’ voters seem willing to fall for almost anything, so I’m sure they’ll swallow this one too.

Alan Keyes is a good man but he does not have a natural strength in a state to call his own and did poorly drafted to run for Senate in Illinois.
I admire him but don’t see this as serious.

Alan Keyes is a good conservative, and a good man. Unfortunately if McCain selected him the public would assume it was a token choice based on race. This is not the time to bring Alan Keyes down to a caricature.

McCain camp will not deny. I'll bet that they won't deny that I'm not on his short list either. Some questions are too ridiculous to address.

I used to like Keyes, but he now sounds nearly as nutty as Obama’s minister.

For one thing, McCain does have a bit of an ego and he needs someone lower key than Keyes as his running mate. You nailed it. While I would LOVE to see this, Keyes (who would overshadow Juan) has it all over McPane in EVERY department, including his rock-rib, conservative views. McLame, will never pick someone like him.

I doubt that, since Keyes has already bolted the GOP and joined the Constitution Party.
However, since the CP rejected him as their presidential nominee, Keyes is certainly available.
I just don’t think McCain has Keyes on the short list for VP.

The McCain camp wouldn’t deny that the Reverend Jeremiah Wright is on the short list, either.
He’s not going to get into that game.

I rather see a ticket with just about anybody else as Pres, and McKennedy - er - McClinton - er - McObama - er, McCain as Vice President.
