A few days ago, there were two suspiciously coordinated statements emerging from Iraq. Muqtada al-Sadr made open-war threats followed immediately by a similar threat from al-Qaeda.
As they say, there is usually no smoke without fire.
Respected Iraqi writer and lawyer Suleiman Hakim (a prominent writer regularly published on the leading Iraqi politics and culture website Kitabat ) reported on April 11 more than a week before Sadr and Abu Ayyub made their threats about serious negotiations taking place between Sadrs movement and a leader of the Islamic army group.
The meetings, Hakim believes, are taking place in Syria and Lebanon and are sponsored by a special Syrian security apparatus specialized in Iraqi affairs.

Only natural - they have common goals, and are both losing at the moment.
See how successful we are, we are solving the Sunni - Shiite schism.
Why we didn’t kill that fat POS over three years ago I will never know. We had him square in the crosshairs and then the eunuch, PC, senior USA officers called it off. And we have been paying for that stupid decision ever since.
Is Black Liberation Theology and the Nation of Islam teaming up in the United States?
I am amazed this is rven asked as a question. AQI has been noted as coordinating their attacks with several different Sunni groups for several years now, until they started betraying those Sunni groups qand killing their leaders.
They also instigated, and supplied several Shiite groups attacks on Sunnis, hoping to trigger a civil war. The AQI will befriend any and all groups hey can use to attack americans and bring ruin to Ieaq, so that they cand take control, and enslave all of Iraq for themselves.
And let us not forget, Iran is in that Devils Mix as well.
Muqtada, Iran, and Al Qaeda...all working with each other.
I assumed they’d been working together all along.
I believe that leaving Mookie alive has served the best purposes of the Iraqi govt. He has been losing support steadily in the rest of Iraq, and even in Sadr City. They’re beginning to see him as he always was, a big thug, in charge of other little thugs, and all puppets of the Iranians. Having the people come to their own conclusions on this will make it easier for the Iraqi govt. to take him out on their own terms, and now it won’t be the big martyrdom opportunity for Mookie that it might have been three years ago. Folks will just look on him as another self-serving thug biting the dust.
Are Sadr and al-Qaeda Teaming Up in Iraq?

It is close to impossible to truly gauge what the leaders of these groups are thinking because we still dont have enough knowledge about the subtleties that underlie the relationships between the different factions within the Sunni insurgency in general, and the Islamic army in particular.
But we Iraqis need to stay alert, for something nasty might be brewing for us in Damascus.

Can’t wait to see the video of the site of their summit meeting as it gets snuffed. Thanks Ernest.
