Unemployment rates are rising across the United States, except Oklahoma. That state is experiencing the most dramatic reduction in unemployment since 2007, an improvement many in Oklahoma attribute to the passage last year by the state legislature of a strong employment-focused immigration reform law. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics on Friday reported unemployment in Oklahoma had fallen to 3.1 percent "The bottom line is illegal aliens will not come here if there are no jobs waiting for them," Terrill said. "They will not stay here if there is no government subsidy, and they certainly won't stay here if they know that if they ever encounter our state and local law enforcement officers, they will be physically detained until they are deported." House Bill 1804, the Oklahoma Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act of 2007, has been characterized by USA Today as "arguably the nation's toughest state law targeting illegal immigration." The Oklahoma law imposes strict penalties on employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens, makes it a felony to transport or shelter illegal immigrants, forbids the state to issue drivers licenses or pay social welfare benefits to illegal aliens or their families, and empowers state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws. The group based the conclusions on a study done by economists Russell Evans and Kyle Dean of the Oklahoma-based Economic Impact Group that estimated as many as 70,000 illegal immigrants were living in "Will anyone in Old Media dig more deeply into the Sooner State's situation?" Blumer wondered. "Or will they try to pretend that Oklahoma's improvement doesn't exist, because finding out why might expose some inconvenient truths, and hurt the cause of illegal-immigrant 'amnesty.'"

Before moving to Kalifornia I lived in Texas and loved it....
Remember this, when you live in a great state you have to be ready for those who are jealous.....
I agree and I hope the rest of the country will do the same. We can hardly pay for ourselves; much less anyone else.
Which is why I provide free cross-referencing service.
How well I know!
I have family in your state as well and visit often.
I think any crime committed by an illegal invader should be considered either a hate crime or an act of war.
Let me correct that .. an act of espionage, not war.
Someone call Fred "pseudo-con" Barnes and compassionate "conservative" Mike Medved. But, when you've got an encyclopedic mind, perhaps your gray matter is too stuffed with other material to have any room left for common sense.
But, I'm sure you realize that that 4% only covers people still actively looking for work, and not those chronically unemployed or who have given up looking.
The question is this: Is our Federal Government competent enough to increase LEGAL immigration?
We don't even need increased legal immigration. Or, maybe you'd like to turn every city in the US into Calcutta, Lagos or Mexico City? The prosperity of a nation depends on more than just economic numbers. Sheer numbers can indicate a huge economy, but says nothing about the quality of life of the average citizen. Where would you rather leave Switzerland or India? China or Norway? In a country with a gigantic economy, or one where the average citizen enjoys a good quaility of life?
This is not to say it can't happen or it hasn't happened, but it depends on the quality of the terrorist.
An end to the American brand of capitalism? An end to "socialize the cost, privatize the profits"?
They're kidding.
Now.. about that Wall Street "socialize the risk, privatize the reward" . . . .
So it is true then: Dub really can't chew gum and skip rope at the same time?
“I think its rather that Bush is focused on the war on terror, and this doesnt show on his radar.”
Tell me you’re kidding...
The FIRST thing Bush should have done after 9/11 was secure BOTH borders! And started deporting ALL foreign muzzies.
Either we are at war or we aren’t!
gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...a nine year old would know that.LOL
AND while he was at it, he should have started deporting ALL illegal aliens. But it is quite apparent that Mexico has Bush in their back pocket.
“I don’t know what Mexico has on GWB, but they sure are getting their pesos’ worth.”
Polaroids is my guess.
Unemployment plummets after crackdown on illegals [OK]

Yet somehow he had time to visit the Hartford, Conn. Boys and Girls Club on Friday.
With less of them to use gasoline/electricity/ERs/publik schkoolz, what do you think will happen to the price/value of CITIZENSHIP ???
Tragically with Clinton/Obama/McCain the choice, we're guaranteed a pro-illegal anti-American president come 2009.
I represented a large local plumbing company bidding on a multiple apartment development here in Connecticut for a national development firm. It lost the bid to a Texas company whose crews were made up of undocumented workers, not paid prevailing wages, overtime or workers comp. Labor unions and Labor Dept. just turned a blind eye to the situation.
