This is the time of year when when FReeping is easy. Temperatures are in the mid 70s during the day, dropping to maybe 65-70 at night, and humidity is low. The sky is partially cloudy, so you're not hit with a blazing sun, but neither is there a threat of precipitation. There was just enough of a breeze to keep you pleasantly cool, but not so much to tear our MOAB.
In other words, it was a beautiful evening.
Honor Roll of Attendees
Your author Tom the Redhunter, Fraxinus, VAFlagWaver, Taco Mama, DaNang 68, Chief, Mr & Mrs Trooprally, VictoryNY, Cindy-True-Supporter, Kristinn, Satin Patriot, BufordP, Sensi Ern, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Ron Kirby, Lurker Bill, and Kburi. Apologies to anyone I missed!
I took some good photos this evening but can't get photobucket to work. It might be a browser problem but I'm just thankful Mrs Trooprally was there to save the day! Here's VictoryNY showing her usual enthusiasm for the troops and their cause

Mr Trooprally sent this:
Tonight at WR Ted and Ann, Patriot Guard Riders from Frederick Co., MD, stopped by after visiting some troops in WR. Ned said that he had twisted his knee and complained to a soldier about the pain. The soldier said that his knee occassionally aches also, but he just takes it off and throws it on the bed.
If you're not aware, the Patriot Guard Riders shield, or guard, funerals of fallen warriors from protesters, including the odious Fred Phelps and his gang. Here's their mission statement
The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America's freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.We don't care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you're a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn't matter where you're from or what your income is; you don't even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.
Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives.
1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.
We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.
To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.
I also got a chance to speak with Ted, and he told me that another thing they did was make hand-carved wood canes for the vets who needed them. He said that they'd made over 150 of them, each with a beautifully carved eagle head. I remember having seen one when a soldier brought his out one time.
DC chapter President Kristinn Taylor was able to FReep with us

Surprised by the Bus
Ok it was my own fault. I'd gone back into the parking lot just after 9:00 to get another slice of pizza when the next thing I know I hear cries of "the bus is here!" It came from the north, which caught everyone by surprise because it usually comes from the south along Georgia Ave. By the time people saw it and the call went out it was already in front of us, and turned into Walter Reed before i could get back out front. Mrs Trooprally was in the parking lot with me (I don't know what her excuse was!) and managed this photo:
When the bus came back out she tried to get a better photo but another FReeper (who shall remain nameless!) stepped in her way just when she hit the button and it didn't come out.
Oh well. it was a beautiful evening.
Please also FReepmail them or any of us if you would like to join us at Walter Reed and would like additional information about parking, directions, what to bring, etc.
Come join us every Friday night between the hours of 6:30pm to approx 9:30pm.

Ping DC Chapter!
Below is Ted at an Olney FReep with one of the canes. He stopped by on his way to Walter Reed to deliver the cane. You can see, but not read, the wounded warriors name just below the top.
I have to talk to [Mrs] T about showing so much of my "winter surge". Shame your pics couldn't come up. I'm sure yours would have me looking better. That or I'll have to cut out the ice cream.
But real good thread, and prompt. Thanks. Not sure recently if anyone has been as quick as you.
[Mr] T
Congratulations on the success of the winter surge! Does this mean there will now be a draw down? Will you do the right thing and announce a schedule?
Glad you’ve got better weather for FReeping. Thanks for all your efforts.
Thank You!
Thanks Tom.. great report. You DC FR patriots just have too much fun!
just watched the CSPAN Whitehouse Correspondents dinner..
were you all there tonight?
I recall how enjoyable it was 2 years ago with you.
busy weekend. Walter Reed/ Bethesda on Sat FReeping Fred Phleps & his FReaks & then Sat night the correspondents dinner.
Man I would have liked to have been here for GWB’s last one..
Man that was quick! Sort of like the bus arivving early.
When did Kristinn shave his beard? I didn’t recognize him in that picture.
You guys are the best! Kristinn, love the new look!
Sounds good! We’ve added you to our DC Chapter ping list.
Come on over so we can put a face with the name.
"Disco" - sounds like it will be an older face like some of us. :-))
[Mr] T
My schedule will probably be to wait for chiller weather so I can put a coat on and no one will notice. Kind of my “special ops” mission. I’ll announce my schedule soon as I finish this quart of ice cream.
[Mr] T
[Mrs] T was at the WHCA dinner. I went to the Westminster FReep. We have the moonbats on the run and want to help them. With several extra FReepers up there, we can split our forces, some countering the moonbats and some staying on our permitted site.
[Mr] T
He shaved his beard sometime in March. Now he has to slather on the sun screen.
[Mr] T
Please add me to your Ping list - apparently I fell off when Albion Wilde left.
Thanx
