NEW ORLEANS Senator John McCain took direct aim at the Bush administration on Thursday as he stood in the lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, the area hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and declared that never again will a disaster of this nature be handled in the terrible and disgraceful way that it was handled.

Compare the Fed response to Katrina versus the response to Andrew under your sainted Clinton. Who was faster .... Anyone .... I’m waiting .... You there in the back, waving your hand ... YES! the answer was BUSH!

Sounds like McCain is now running on the "bash Bush" ticket.........

Who do you think was flying those orange helicopters picking people off their roofs? The Lousiana Coast Guard? And that Cajun General who got everyone straightened out; I suppose you think he was on loan from General Motors. The Federal Government did a much better job than they get credit for. It wasn’t the Feds who told everyone to go to the Superdome then left them there to rot.

The President had to beg the governor and the mayor to evacuate the city and had to beg the governor to allow him to activate the NG. The President was dealing with the largest natural disaster ever to hit the US and it seems that those in the 9th ward were the only ones waiting for Uncle Sugar Daddy to come and chauffeur them to safety.

Everybody tells me how Bush did everything wrong, but I'm still waiting for somebody, anybody, to tell me, in detail, exactly what Bush should have done.

Why cant he run against democrats, what the frell is he doing running against Republicans?
Party labels are irrelevant since the GOP has moved far enough to the socialist left that they are essentially one party. McCain is a socialist running against Conservatives.

How is he wrong?
What did Bush or his administration have to do with it? The system was in place long before he/they ever got in office...........
Lets start with the levies which had the Fed govt. funding which were never spent accordingly. Thus their ultimate failure....
Lets move on to the idiot mayor who was actually the "clueless one" who never issued a mandatory evacuation and allowed all the busses to remain stationary in A lake of water..........
Then lets finish with the state governor who never requested national guard assistance until after the fact.........
Just like the Mayor and the stupid Governor, McCain is STUCK ON STUPID..........

perhaps it is better that Hussein win in November. And fill the next three Supreme Court vacancies with fellow Marxists who'll be rubber-stamped by the filibuster-proof Dem Senate? And neuter the military? And invite a nuke attack on our shores by deep-sixing missile defense and terrorist surveillance?
Bad as McCain is (and yeah, he's bad), that's not worth it.

disgraceful? disgraceful?? Tell me, McCain, just how was President Bush's (our) response "disgraceful"? Exactly, and precisely, how was it disgraceful?
And as long as you are so eager to blame President Bush, why can't you open your yap and tell us your thoughts on Ray Nagin's response, or Gov. Blanco's response. Tell us. Oh, I see, being the much vaunted "maverick" you are you can only slam Republicans. I'm sure the MSM will love you as you help them reinforce a MYTH!
To me this is nothing more than a bully (McCain) swinging and hitting the easiest mark he can because he knows there will be no reprisal. That is cowardly!

The feds screwed the pooch on that one if, by nothing else, letting those incompetent hacks at the state and local level screw things up so badly.
You mean by like following the laws and the Constitution? Why do we pay for those local levels of government when the all mighty feds can handle every problem?

The feds gave NO the money to fix the ocean front walls long before Katrina hit. The government down there spent the money elsewhere.
That would be a good place to start.
