A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

We are treating Rusty at a university teaching hospital. That's great. It's a good choice. I have heard so many good things about the teaching hospitals. We were going to have Chachi's back surgery done at UC Davis because they are known as one of the best veterinary universities in the country, but as it turned out we found a wonderful veterinary neurosurgeon who has a practice near Davis and could take Chachi immediately. As it turned out, we found out that Dr. Kortz lectures in the veterinary neurosurgery department at UC Davis. So we felt God led us to him. He's the best of the best. He did a wonderful job for Chachi. Because of the skilled and compassionate surgeon and the prayers of so many people here, we have our happy little boy back.
I will pray continually for Rusty; that he not suffer and that the chemo puts his cancer in remission. I will continually pray for you and Mr. D. too. I know how difficult this is for you. Yes, we do love our freeperpets and we all know what yuou are going through. Love you, dutchess. Dear God, let there be a miracle healing for your precious creation, Rusty.

A Sailing Ship
We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8
Dorothy, an elderly woman, was near death. She loved the Lord and longed to be with Him. The nurse told her family that Dorothy would probably hold on until she could see her daughter, who was on her way to say goodbye. The nurse said, "It's as if Dorothy has one foot here and the other in heaven. She wants to take that last step soon."
That reminds me of the following beautiful description of dying by Henry van Dyke:
"I am standing at the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud, just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. . . . And just at the moment when someone at my side says: 'There, she is gone!' there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: 'Here she comes!' And that is dying."
Even more comforting for the loved ones of a believer who dies are the words of the apostle Paul: "If our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens" (2 Cor. 5:1). We can rejoice in our sorrow knowing our departed loved ones are now present with the Lord (v.8).
The death of people whom we love
Brings sorrow and deep pain;
But if our loved ones know the Lord,
Our loss becomes their gain. Sper

Sadly, Rusty passed away this morning. He had been sleeping comfortably and they saw no signs of distress. We always said he came to us to be with dad. We can’t help but feel that mom and dad (AND dutchess, codee and fredthecat) were there to greet him at rainbow bridge. Thanks all of you for your thoughts and prayers.

Oh, no. Dutchess, I am so sorry. I know how much Rusty meant to you. He went quickly though, and that is a good thing. He didn't linger on for months and months. That is a blessing, I think. Yes, now he is with your dad who he loved so much.
Rusty had an angel watching over him when God brought him to you and your dad. You gave him a wonderful home. He's a very special dog. My heart is breaking for you and Mr. D. I am so very sorry.

I didn’t expect to see this, and can’t stop the tears. I’m so so sorry, dutchess. But yes, a happy reunion for him at Rainbow Bridge.
