God bless this woman and her family, including the new baby..it’s awesome to see this kind of dedication and love in this day and age.

I’ll guarantee that if it wasn’t Sarah Palin, the doctors would have recommended an abortion. If there was no pressure, it was only because the doctors knew better than to even bring the subject up with her.

For every woman that gives birth to a baby with Down’s Syndrome, 200 women will abort what would have been a perfectly normal child.

This society is really screwed (no pun intended).

During the election cycle, in debates against the democrat, and supposed independent, She was the only one unabashedly pro-life and anti-gay marriage. She has been a great governor for our state, and a great example for everyone. A politician with integrity.

One reason I loved living in Alaska was that people thought for themselves, didn’t care much about being PC, and everyone accepted others’ decisions and beliefs. The only place I’ve seen true tolerance. I love her attitude.

Sure wish she’d run for President in 2012. Heck ... she’d even make an awesome VP now.

Man, that's my deepest wish and desire at this time, and has been for a couple of months, since I first heard about her. She is one of the most impressive human beings (let alone political figures) I have ever heard of.

McCain, please choose Sarah. She is ready, willing and able to be the greatest VP in the history of this country!

Amen! And Downs kids are often the sweetest kids you’ll ever meet too. We have several families in our church with Downs kids, as a matter of fact two younger couples have even adopted Downs kids. There’s a lot of love there.

I’m old enough to remember when aborting babies was the newsmaker.

These days a woman, who is governor of a state, makes news, and gets praise, for having moral character, doing what is decent, and never considering doing otherwise.

I doubt she, along with the majority of other decent folks, wants or expects praise for it.

Boy, that’s the truth. I used to work with them when I was a teen, and it was a very rewarding experience.

You shouldn’t assume that the purpose of prenatal testing is just to push abortion. With increasingly sophisticated testing available, serious abnormalities can be detected in great detail, and sometimes treated in utero, or a decision made that the baby will have a better chance if it’s delivered early so that treatment for a life-threatening problem can begin before it’s too late. I suspect that’s what happened in Gov. Palin’s. She had the testing, and it obviously wasn’t because she planned to abort if Down syndrome was diagnosed. But Down syndrome babies often have life threatening physical abnormalities, including heart problems, that can kill them or do irreparable damage before their due date. Most likely, it was detection of a problem of this nature that led to the baby being delivered a month ahead of schedule. If she hadn’t had the testing, the baby might never have been born alive.

Whatever decision parents make about a child with serious abnormalities, it’s better to have as much information as possible as early as possible. If they decide to abort, it will happen much earlier, and if they decide not to they will at the very least be much better prepared to start caring for a child with the particular problems theirs has, and they may have a chance to keep the child alive that they wouldn’t have had without prenatal testing. In some cases, the only abnormality is one that can be fully corrected by surgery, but only if it’s early enough. At least one otherwise normal baby was saved by in utero open heart surgery. The serious abnormality was detected early, and it was determined that it would kill the baby before it was far enough along to be delivered early and survive, so they just went in and did the surgery, sewed baby and mom back up, and let the baby continue to grow with a properly working heart.
