Not so.

Haven't you heard:

1.) the JFK story of him sending out lackeys to buy up all the Cuban cigars in the metro DC area before he issued the embargo?

and

2.) the LBJ story while recovering from a heart attack, he says to the doctor "I guess I can't smoke any more while I'm President"?

Obama wants to be sure that the Chinese control the high ground of space before we do.

What else would we expect from this race baiting liberal POS ?

Pay no attention to him PaMom. I’m a very charismatic person. If I had any friends they would tell you.

1. This article only addresses the manned program which is wasted money. The unmanned program produces all the science.

Well, that not an unbiased comment.

2. The Atlas V will be man rated and meet all NASA safety criteria long before 2015.

Who is paying for that and whats your point? That we throw all our eggs in one basket again?

3. The Ares is in trouble and may not even be viable

Says who? The program is not mature enough to even make such a statement.

4. If Obama allowed the manned program at NASA die it would be the best thing that could happen to NASA.

I have a great respect for those who perform the unmanned exploration mission, but I have to disagree with your assertion. Manned space is and should be the end goal of our exploration efforts.

Do you know what it feels like to have hot coffee come go through your sinus passage and out of your nose? I do.

I'm not sure but isn't this another speech plagiarized by Obama?

I'm too young to remember if Eisenhower still smoked cigarettes when he ran for President, but I have read in several wartime biographies that he was a three-pack-a-day guy during WWII.

I have been assuming since WTC911 that the space program is finished. China, Japan, Brazil, India, and Europe which includes Russia will carry on. It’s over. Get some certifications in plumbing/gas installation.

LOL...that is soooo funny. OK another engineer type quirk (at least I see this in my hubby and hear this from his co-workers wives)...do you ever (gasp) pay to have something repaired by a repairman instead of using your superior engineering skills and taking every blasted appliance apart and fixing it (in a 'not pleasing to the wife' snail-like pace) BECAUSE EVERYTHING IS JUST BASIC ENGINEERING? Not that I have issues or anything...

Name any scientific advances produced by manned flight in the last 20 years

Bigelow aerospace will pay for most of that but NASA will get the benefit too as the rocket will meet all NASA criteria for man rated flight. Putting all our eggs in one basket is far more effective than having no basket and no eggs.

Opening up space to commercialization will accelerate the use of near space 10 fold. NASA should just get out of the way.

re: Name any scientific advances produced by manned flight in the last 20 years)))

They've come much closer to realizing that the human body cannot tolerate long periods of time in space.

Manned space missioning is a circular endeavor--all the efforts and science go to preserving the spam in the can. What they have learned? They can't preserve it very long.

Valid, but secondary. The primary is that his wheels are being greased by Big Private Space.

The 1967 UN Outer Space Treaty needs to be repealed. It’s a piece of Socialist work anyway.

We will continue to import kids who cannot read or write and who’s parents are only here to do low wage manual labor and wire their paychecks back to their homeland.
