2008 Election Prayer Thread for McCain/Conservatives: Day 1
April 20, 2008 | Vanity

Posted on 04/19/2008 10:30:29 PM PDT by topher

It is my opinion that we need to pray for our leaders this election.

Many Conservative are disappointed with the selection of Senator John S. McCain. But in one sense, he is the true conservative in values -- he has fought for campaign finance reform -- getting big money out of politics.

This should allow the little guy (or gal) more voice in what this country is doing.

In some religions, it is part of the church service to pray for the leaders of a country (Ukrainian Catholic, for example).

We must pray for our leaders and pray that the Congress that is elected in 2008 will serve our Judeo-Christian country and help restore traditional values.

We need to win back the HOUSE and SENATE.

Additionally, Senator John S. McCain may choose a Vice Presidental candidate that many conservatives will warm up to.

I have heard it once said: YOU GET WHAT YOU PRAY FOR.

Obviously, if we are not praying (and working) for the conservatives values this country needs for this election, then God will not help us.

We must be like the Old Widow who continually went to the Judge. Eventually, the Judge gave in the Old Widom because she continually asked the Judge to see her point of view.

That has nothing to do with the articles I linked to.

It has everything to do with his Senate service.

I don’t apologize for anything he has been purported to do.
I don’t know what is fact, and what is fiction.

I do know that it is...what it is.

He’s the nominee...get over it.

Besides, I can name several politicians I trust.

Senator Inhofe, my congressman, Phil Gingrey, my former congressman, Tom Price, and my beloved Tom McClintock from California.

I don’t understand your confusion. Did you read the article? I will most certainly not get “over it.” That is just another way of saying “get over your conservatism.” Not gonna happen.

Jim Jeffords was a blue blooded country club republican.

As is John McCain.

I guess I misunderstood your post #38.

I’m at a loss...and am very conflicted.

One of your links doesn’t work, another is an FR vanity, and another is him giving an interview on a senate colleague. The one about Jeffords is hardly damning. McCain is right in his assessment that you can’t make people like Jeffords feel unwanted if you want to keep them in the GOP. If you demand ideological purity, jeffords and the rest of the New England blue bloods have to go. If you want some people you can agree with most of the time, then you try and make them feel somewhat welcome.

Nice spam.

Now, do you want to know why I will consider McCain?

Don’t get me started on another Viet Nam rant.
I lived it, and do til this day.

I lived Viet Nam...

In fact, I lived every bit of several years with POW/MIA wives.
I lived every day knowing I could be counted in their ranks.

Tell me something else I need to know.

then I do, too.
