Oprah Winfrey may have gone too far in exploiting and distributing the teachings of a questionable New Age writer.
On Monday night, Winfrey conducted her weekly Web "event" seminar with New Age writer Eckhart Tolle. His message: "Life is the dancer and you are the dance."
Got that?
The seminar was No. 7 in a series of 10. On the first 90-minute Webcast with Tolle, Oprah extolled the authors virtues, calling his best-selling "New Earth" book "one of the most important books of our time," the seminars one of "the most exciting things Ive ever done."
Imagine that Winfrey considers her conversations with Tolle, a man with a shady and un-checkable background, more important than her schools in Africa and Mississippi for underprivileged children, more important than her Angel Charity network or her zillion-dollar syndicated TV show. Tolle must be something else!
But its not like Winfrey is endorsing Maya Angelou or Toni Morrison, serious, educated artists with portfolios. Tolle is more like Kilgore Trout, Kurt Vonneguts science-fiction crackpot alter-ego.
And whats different about the Tolle connection for Winfrey is that for the first time in her much-applauded Book Clubs history, shes gone into business with the author. And the author is not one of a novel, memoir or cookbook; hes the mysterious creator of a philosophy that Winfrey endorses and suggests her readers live their lives by.

If she’s not starting her own cult, she’s giving a lot of her influence towards pushing and old cult.
And it's always bothered me (and is a terrible example to all the young girls and women who hold her in esteem) that she doesn't marry Steadman. Is she still with that guy?
Oprah is getting bolder in pushing her new age agenda.
“Life is the dancer and you are the dance.”
In Soviet Oprah, life lives you.
Life is the Chartered Accountant and I am the balance sheet.
I use to be into the ergonomics of kitchen appliance handles until I got the message that "I am the dance." ;-)
“Starting”?
It has already existed for a long, long time.
Just do not get me started with my dictionary and thesaurus to describe my thoughts and “feelin’s” bout Oprah.!
I’m warning you!
“Oprah is getting bolder in pushing her new age agenda.”
Yep. The fruit and nut crowd’s favorite term for God’s green Earth, “Gaia”, will soon be supplanted by “Oprah”, which has more of that, you know, inclusive, Eubonics feel to it....
Life is the plumber and you are the clogged grease-trap.
She’ll build them a compound in Montana. They’ll all move their and grow their own food and concentrate on whirled peas. When the spaceship doesn’t come to pick them up in 2012, they will start sacrificing babies. That won’t work, so they will plant explosives around the compound and drink Pepsi with weedkiller. When the feds come to save the babies, they will blow the place, peacefully killing everyone except Oprah, who will be assumed into hell.
Close enough?
Oprah is getting bolder in pushing her new age agenda.

You have to hand it to Oprah. She has sucsessfully sold the duped, mindless, feel-good, handwringing sector of America on her brand of commericalized liberalism. Efffectively, she has turned, as Rush puts it, “America’s most costly commodity” (IGNORANCE) into a huge personal treasure.
Unlike other liberals, it appears she has done it legally...
THERE
and seeing her on TV recently, she will have the same shape.
Yes, she is using the Jim Jones model for her cult. Many intelligent liberals are scheduled for induction.
All the world's a stage, and we are merely players.
The first sign of a mindless platitude is when you can reverse it and it makes just as much sense. "Life is the dance and you are the dancer", see, it lost none of its "profundity".
If I am your Rex, do I get half your stuff?
I think I saw that South Park episode.
