TEHRAN --A bomb blast in a mosque in southern Iran on Saturday killed at least eight Iranians in southern Fars province and injured more than 50 people, the semi-official Fars news agency reported.
"The death toll is expected to rise above eight because some of the injured people are in a critical condition," Fars said, without giving a source.
"During the speech of a cleric in the Shohada mosque in Shiraz city, a bomb blast killed several people," Fars quoted an unnamed source as saying.
Earlier, state television said the blast happened in central Iran, without giving details.

Hmmm...a bomb blast at a mosque. A mullah behind it, perhaps, but why would they blow up their own guys....if they’re at a mosque listening to a cleric’s speech they’ve gotta be pretty devout, right? Why would they be targets of a mullah?
Although I found it ironic that the name of the mosque was Shohada, which looks like shahada, which is the creed the suicide bombers say before they blow themselves up....

The semi-official Fars news agency is giving a lower death
toll, saying eight people have been killed and more than 50
injured. There is no immediate explanation for the
discrepancy.
The state television report says "As a result of a bomb
explosion at Rahpouyan Cultural Center in Shiraz,
unfortunately scores of our countrymen were martyred."
Fars says the mosque is the site of a weekly speech about
extremist Wahabi beliefs and the outlawed Bahai faith.

Could this be the beginning of giving Iran a taste of its own medicine? I personally wouldn’t cry if America funded Iranian dissidents who attack them in the same way they attack us in Iraq.
I heard somehere yesterday the mosque is the site of weekly speech about extremist Wahabi beliefs and the outlawed Bahai faith; whether the speech is pro-Wahabi is unclear, and even wikipedia doesn’t have an entry on Baihai.

I actually had friends in Kansas that were Bahai. THey were pretty far left as far as politics go.
