Mayhill Fowler has more from Obama's remarks at a San Francisco fundraiser Sunday, and they include an attempt to explain the resentment in small-town Pennsylvania that won't be appreciated by some of the people whose votes Obama's seeking:
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them...And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
That's pretty broad list of things to explain with job loss.
Juan Williams in FNC channel right now talking about how stupid these comments were especially when coupled with the not wanting his daughters “punished with a baby” comments.
This is great. This idiot has another 7 months to run his mouth.
Marx said religion is the opiate of the people. I say liberalism is the crack cocaine of the sheeple.
This bozo is not going to be president.
But the culture of violence, urban legend and non-families out of which he arises is OK. This turd is out of Mad Max.
Maybe Katie Couric could get to the bottom of it. She's supposed to be good at colonoscopy interviews.
Headlining on Drudge as we speak...
Unlikely, because even though Hillary isn't likely to say so, she and her following believe the same thing: a completely false impression of small-town Pennsylvania. Remember, this is a primary between Democrats.
Well, mostly Democrats.
Heh Heh.
But we were already voting for Hillary anyway.
Retarded...absolutely retarded. Did I say retarded? Obama thinks women are weak.
I have no sympathy for someone who calls thier grandparents "typical" anything. Retarded.
Pretty wise.
Obama knows all about bitter people, look who he’s married to.
At least these people in the rust belt have a legitimate right to be bitter.
What’s Michelle Obama’s excuse for her got up on the wrong side of the bed, ran out of toothpaste groty-ness. I’ll bet she wears one of those I hate White people hats when she does chores around the house.

"anti-immigrant"?
Most of the people in the small towns of Pennsylvania are from recent immigrant stock themselves - Lithuanians, Italians, Poles, German Jews, Slovaks, Croations. The worked the mines and steel mills and the factories.
They came here legally, through Ellis Island. They wanted to be Americans, not Salvadorans and Mexicans looking for money with no interest in the country they sneaked into. They are not anti-immigrant - they are anti-ILLEGAL Immigrant.
These liberals are some of the most ignorant, arrogant, and hateful people on earth. For all their "compassion", they wouldn't get near an illegal alien or allow them in their homes - except to paint the walls at slave wages.
"And sometimes they run for president, blaming whitey for their primary losses."
Why are you repeating yourself?
“And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
White urban liberal snobbery at its finest.
“You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them...And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.”
Hrmmm... 25 years... quite a long time to be without a job! That is at least one generation, maybe two depending on how you count it. I wonder how they have survived as a town?
“Regenerate”? What should be regenerated??
What BO is missing is the concept of a “support community” for a surrounding “business” called “farming”. I grew up in a small town in North Central Missouri that had a few industries that came and went, but the town still exists pretty much in the same state today as when I went to High School there. This is because the PRIMARY purpose of the town was as a support center for the local farmers. It was a place to buy groceries, send their kids to school, and buy/sell their produce. IT was NOT a place to make cars, jet engines, airplanes, or trade stocks! That part of the town never went away!! I suspect most of the small towns are about the same... support centers for local business such as agriculture, mining, tourism, or whatever.
His statements is inherently false because he tries to paint ALL with the same brush derived from his limited library of stereotypes! This is the logical fallacy of arguing from the specific to the general. I believe this guy has been “educated beyond the limits of his intelligence”!
A “keep diggin’, Barack” Ping!
What if the words were changed just a bit, and spoken by a white politician describing the people who populate the radical Revrunnnnd Wright's church pews every week...
And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to "preachers" who shout from the pulpit against people who aren't like them or anti-white sentiment or anti-capitalism sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations...
How long would that politician hold office?
LOLOL!
“they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”
Translation = “Small towns in America are filled with typical ignorant, white racists, who are gun-totin religious fanatics.
