Excerpt -

LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- Bankrupt farmer Tommy Robinson, the former sheriff, congressman and gubernatorial candidate, has been ordered to serve a 60-day jail sentence, beginning next month, for criminal contempt in his personal bankruptcy case.

Robinson said he would appeal Thursday's order by U.S. District Judge James Moody, who told Robinson to report to the U.S. Marshal's Office on May 5 to begin serving the sentence. Moody also ordered Robinson to pay a $5,000 fine.

When I moved to Arkansas in 1987, I was initially pleased to discover that the individual representing me in the US House of Representatives was a Democrat. To me, Tommy Robinson was just a name but I soon discovered that he was also a legend and not much of a Democrat. At least not like any Democrat I’d ever known.

So he never won a nomination as a Republican.

“He served in Congress as a Democrat, then switched parties and ran for Governor as a Republican.”

Yep, this is a familiar M.O.

The Rats switched to being RINOs so they could continue to (1) be re-elected and (2) destroy the GOP from within.

We have several of these maggots in office today...Rick Perry (Texas Governor), immediately comes to mind. There are many more, hence the problems that we are having.

Walking Tall: Tommy Robinson Arrested in Brinkley

Posted by ME under Arkansas, courts
Tags: Arkansas, courts, crime, Tommy Robinson

Tommy F. RobinsonLast Tuesday, former Arkansas Second District Congressman Tommy F. Robinson was arrested and charged with physically assaulting one of his creditors at Gene’s BBQ and Family Restaurant in Brinkley. Robinson and his son are scheduled for a court hearing today in Brinkley.

Robinson has been charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct while his son faces third-degree battery and disorderly conduct charges. All of the charges are misdemeanors.

Before he was elected to Congress in 1984, Robinson was the Sheriff of Pulaski County and earned a reputation for as a lawman and self-promoter. In The Haunting of the President, Joe Conason and Gene Lyonsdescribe Robinsons most famous law-enforcement efforts this way:

“Robinson hid armed deputies in liquor stores and convenience marts with orders to shoot to kill. Peering down the barrel of a 12-gauge shotgun, he bragged to the cameras: “My basic policy is to kick the butts of criminals. If I have to use excessive force, I will”. Robinson once settled a dispute with state prison officials by chaining a bus load of mostly black inmates to the penitentiary gates, then placing armed deputies around the county jail and defying state police to try to return them. Soon known statewide simply as “Tommy”, the new sheriff often outraged judges, prosecutors, and other cops with his publicity-seeking antics.”

By the time he left Congress in 1989, Robinson had switched parties and had been implicated in a check kiting scandal involving member’s bank at the House of Representatives. It was reported in 1992 that while in Washington, Robinson had kited (bounced) 996 personal checks with overdrafts totaling $251,609. While not illegal, the banking scandal left a permanent stain on Robinson’s public record and may be one of the reasons why he’s had a hard time getting back into politics.

In 1990, Robinson ran (unsuccessfully) for the Republican nomination for governor and in 2002, he ran (unsuccessfully) for Congress against Marion Berry (D) in the Arkansas First District.

In addition to farming and other ventures, Robinson has served on the Arkansas Rural Development Commission since 2005.

In 2005, Robinson filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and the courts have been liquidating his assets since then. Apparently, the altercation with Mr. Thompson, one of Robinson’s creditors, stemmed from Thompson’s foreclosure of the Robinsons’ home and other jointly-owned properties in the Cabot area. Robinson, who has never known for his contrition, said this to reporters after the alleged assault:

“I’m surprised I’m the first one [to hit Thompson]. I mean, I’m a nonviolent guy, but you push me far enough and that’s what happened. He [Thompson] runs up and down the roads, and every time you see him he gives you that smirking look like, ‘I’ve got you buddy boy, you’re broke now, you can’t do nothing about it.’ Well, he found out differently.”

I would have said “I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. It was wrong for my son and I to beat you up.” But then again, I’m not Tommy Robinson.

Good luck in court today.

He served in Congress as a Democrat, then switched parties and ran for Governor as a Republican.

Therefore, he should be given the death penalty for the crimes committed while he was a Democrat and the partisan hack prosecutor that charged him with crimes while he was a Republican should be sent to prison for life.
