Did anyone else notice the lack of respect by the Stanford women who were playing for the Championship against Tennessee last night?
Openly not holding hand over heart when the National Anthem was played. A bunch of losers. Reminds me of BHO.
well, ask yourself how hard it would be to ‘photoshop’ an entire video, which is what that still photo was snapped from.
You can watch the entire thing and watch Osama looking around, acting like he could hardly wait for that silly anthem to end.
Remember, some of those young women may have attended public schools that didn't even say the pledge of allegiance. They may have no idea how to act during the playing of the Anthem. After all, there are many Americans who think the last two words of the song are "Play Ball"!
In East Tennessee we do!
There’s video of that episode and Obambi himself has acknowledged it, so whoever is spewing that nonsense about the photo being Photoshopped is an idiot, dishonest, or both. The scene was an event that Tom Harkin of Iowa holds, where he drags in all the ‘Rat candidates. Obambi has acknowledged the indicent but says it is not significant. Many of us care to differ with him on that, and on many other things.
I can't, and I am a hoops fan. The quality of play is lower than a good noon-time game at the local state university's rec center.
Somebody once said that watching women play basketball is like watching midgets wrestle.
I love that line.
I’ve done the same. No worries!
Thanks for posting the video link.
I’m so tired of this nonissue. The video shows that he’s singing. (And wasn’t that rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” just dreadful? Why can’t people just sing the song and quit messing it up?)
Obama said that he puts his hand on his heart for the pledge and sings the song. Jeesh! That’s what I was taught to do 50 years ago in Chicago public schools. I’ve never put my hand on my heart for the “Star Spangled Banner”; I just do that for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Let’s stick to the valid reasons for criticizing Obama. And there are more than enough.
§ 301. National anthem
(a) Designation. The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
(b) Conduct During Playing. During a rendition of the national anthem
(1) when the flag is displayed
(A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart;
(B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
(C) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and
(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

Not really. The semis (I think...) were played here locally last weekend(?) and I think only about 4000 people turned up for them. I don't know all of the particulars, just that a couple of radio jocks were kicking it around last week.
BUT!!! Title IX demands the American People be just as fascinated with women's sports, as mens. There's a law, you know.
I went to UTK...we watch Tennessee football, Tennessee men and women’s basketball and the blacks in Memphis riot every ten years or so...
The law has changed with regard to proper etiquette since I was in grade school. We were drilled to never put our hand over our heart for the anthem, only for the Pledge. Once you get out of school, you don't hear about this stuff. Finally, I realized at ballgames that I was one of the few without my hand over my heart, and I looked it up. It's still very hard for me to change since it was drilled into everyday for 6 years. Once we got to middle school, I don't remember pledging and singing to start the day. That doesn't explain why Stanford players don't know the etiquette. They probably don't teach that Amerikan stuff in commy Cali.
“The law has changed with regard to proper etiquette since I was in grade school.”
We always did. I went to grade school in the 60’s.
And I taught my kids to.
AMEN! The more folks concentrate on silly reasons for distrusting him, others, who might otherwise be against his political stances, won't listen to those IMPORTANT reasons not to support him.
Well, I guess you learn something new every day!
I think it is and so do a lot of other Americans. See Post #30.
A number of years back I was in Nashville for a trade show. It got late so a couple of us from Pennsylvania strolled over to a tavern around 9PM looking to get something to eat. Walked in the door & I thought the Superbowl was on or something. Come to find out it was Vanderbilt v. Tennessee in Women's Basketball. So yes, they do take the women's game seriously in those parts.
I caught a bit of one of the Regional finals in the Women’s NCAA. Looked like you could get courtside. ALL the seats were empty.
The Women's Basketball Hall of Fame is in Knoxville. There's a lot of support for ladies' hoops around here! Of course, having Pat Summitt here helps!
