BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: Authorities enter Eldorado-area temple (Fundamentalist LDS cult)
Go San Angelo ^ | 5 April 08 | Paul A. Anthony

Posted on 04/06/2008 5:27:22 AM PDT by SkyPilot

Local and state officials entered the temple of a secretive polygamist sect late Saturday, said lawmen blockading the road to the YFZ Ranch near Eldorado.

The action comes hours after local prosecutors said officials were preparing for the worst because a group of FLDS members were resisting efforts to search the structure.

The Texas Department of Public Safety trooper and Schleicher County sheriff’s deputy confirmed that officials have entered the temple but said they had no word on whether anything occurred in the effort.

The incursion into the temple caps the three-day saga of the state’s Child Protective Services agency removing at least 183 women and children from the YFZ Ranch since Friday afternoon. Eighteen girls have been placed in state custody since a 16-year-old told authorities she was married to a 50-year-old man and had given birth to his child.

Saturday evening, ambulances were brought in, said Allison Palmer, who as first assistant 51st District attorney, would prosecute any felony crimes uncovered as part of the investigation inside the compound.

“In preparing for entry to the temple, law enforcement is preparing for the worst,” Palmer said Saturday evening. They want to have “medical personnel on hand in case this were to go in a way that no one wants.”

Apparently as a result of action Saturday night at the ranch, about 10:15 p.m. Saturday, a Schleicher County school bus unloaded another group of at least a dozen more women and children from the compound.

Although members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or FLDS, have provided varying degrees of cooperation to the sheriff’s deputies and Texas Rangers searching the compound, all cooperation stopped once authorities tried to search the gleaming white temple that towers over the West Texas scrub, Palmer said.

“There may be those who would oppose (entry) by placing themselves between law enforcement and the place of worship,” Palmer said Saturday afternoon. “If an agreement cannot be reached … law enforcement will have to — as gently and peaceably as possible — make entry into that place.”

Sect members consider the temple, dedicated by then-leader of the sect Warren Jeffs in January 2005 and finished many months later, off-limits to those who are not FLDS members, said Palmer, who prosecutes felony cases in Schleicher County.

Palmer said she didn’t know the size or makeup of the group inside the temple.

The earlier refusal to provide access was even more disconcerting because CPS investigators have yet to identify the 16-year-old girl or her roughly 8-month-old baby among the dozens removed from the compound, Palmer said.

“Anytime someone says, ‘Don’t look here,’” she said, “it makes you concerned that’s exactly where you need to look.”

The girl told authorities in two separate phone calls a day apart that she was married to a 50-year-old man, Dale Barlow, who had fathered her child, Palmer said.

The joint raid included the Texas Rangers, CPS, Schleicher County and Tom Green County sheriff’s deputies and game wardens from the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Although CPS and Department of Public Safety officials have described the compound’s residents as cooperative, Palmer disagreed.

“Things have been a little tense, a little volatile,” she said.

Authorities removed 52 children Friday afternoon and 131 women and children overnight Friday. About 40 of the children are boys, said CPS spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner.

No further children have been taken into state custody since Friday, when 18 girls were judged to have been abused or be at imminent risk for abuse. CPS has found foster homes for the girls, Meisner said, and will place them after concluding its investigation.

Meisner declined to comment on the fate of the 119 other children and said authorities were still searching the ranch for others Saturday evening.

“They’re in the process of looking,” she said. “They’re literally about halfway through.”

I guess you missed the discussion on the other thread. Both Genealogies are mentioned, that of Mary and Joseph. Both go through Bathsheba and David’s sons. One through Solomon, the other though Nathan.

Jesus “line” was not produced within polygamist relationships.

Jesus was descended from a line which included prostitutes (Rahab) and polygamists (Abraham, David, Solomon). Jesus was a direct descendant from the adulterous relationship between David and Bathsheeba. Solomon was the first son born to David and Bathsheeba after the David and Bathsheeba were married.

Jesus “line” was “produced” between one man and one woman in each generation.

Unless you can have two birth mothers and/or two biological Fathers, I think everyone falls into that category. Even Brigham Young's many children. If you can find me an example of someone having two biological mothers and/or two biological fathers, let me know.

Actually, to be ‘technically’ correct, the son that resulted from the adulterous relationship was killed by the Lord. David and Bathsheba were married after that and had Solomon.

You are correct. Solomon was the first son conceived in that marriage. The other son was conceived out of wedlock.

Well, it is an unanswered question as to whether Jesus had even Mary as a biological donor to His genetics. The Bible actually refers to implantation when it is speaking of ‘conceiving’.

It's a bunch of old men who vie for sex with 13 year olds - (ummm, "brides") and they call it a "religion" - gimme a break. You can gussie that pedophile stuff up with 30 minute prayers on the hour, but it's still child rape. And it's sick. And disgusting.

These cults dump the young men - and rape ( it's not marriage) the teenage girls. That's it.

Passing young girls around for fun and pleasure - collecting welfare and living off the rest of us. Are you charmed?

But, you're right ansell, if they're stupid enough to be in that "religion" they might be too stupid to understand how disgusting they are...

I guess I'll post this here too on this thread, because I think it's important. I think the bible is very clear that Mary was his biological mother. I really dont’ see why this is an issue with some evangelicals. He is the Son of God, and the mortality component of his life is essential to his great and last sacrifice. His succumbing to mortality to do the will of the Father make so much sense to me.

Here are the references as to his very real mortal line.

1 Sam. 17: 12 David was the son of . . . Jesse.
2 Sam. 7: 13 I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
Ps. 89: 4 Thy seed will 1 establish for ever.
Ps. 132: 11 fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
Ps. 132: 17 will I make the horn of David to bud.
Isa. 9: 7 upon the throne of David.
Isa. 11: 1 (2 Ne. 21: 1) rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch.
Jer. 23: 5 I will raise unto David a righteous Branch.
Jer. 33: 15 cause the Branch . . . to grow up unto David.
Matt. 1: 1 generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David.
Matt. 12: 23 Is not this the son of David.
Matt. 22: 42 whose son is he . . . The Son of David.
Luke 1: 32 God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.
John 7: 42 (Rom. 1: 3) Christ cometh of the seed of David.
Acts 2: 30 of the fruit of his loins . . . he would raise up Christ.
Acts 13: 23 Of this man’s seed hath God . . . raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus.
Rom. 15: 12 root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign.
Rev. 22: 16 I am the root and the offspring of David.

I think the references to the Son of David and the seed of Abraham would suggest that there was a necessary biological tie between Abraham, David and Jesus.

They had to have a good reason to put them directly into foster care instead of just detaining them. Maybe they were “married” already.

Giving life support in the womb is biological connection. Jesus IS God taking for Himself a body to dwell in spacetime with us. We do not have an answer as to what genetic source fashioned that body, but we have many hints which until this generation could not have been comprehended!

—”What I was getting at was you accuse other of on the path of heritic or Jim Jones out of the blue, because they dare to say that the Spirit of the Lord witness to them.”

I never made any accusation about anyone being a heretic.. others made such statements, but not I. The REAL converstaion went... You said...

—”You are welcome to continue down your hateful road and should you go beyond no return it matters not...”

And my response was..

—”And people are welcome to follow heretical paths too. It is called Free Will. You can choose Truth or not.”

You sounded pretty judgemental to me. Further, I was merely stating the Truth. Free Will, given by God, allows us to choose our paths. I never called you a heretic, you interpreted it that way yourself. Or do you DENY that God gave us free will and the ability to make whatever choices we do? Considering that you left out the statement I was responding to when you quoted my response, it indicates a bit of intellectual dishonesty on your part. Word games are not very becoming of a “Good christian”, mormon or otherwise.

Then there is this.. your words..

—”The Spirit of the Lord has witness to me, thank you!”

The great cry of every person who thinks they have all of the answers, and who thinks to present us poor fools with their great wisdom. My response...

—”Perhaps. But many others have thought the same.. such as Reverend Jim Jones.”

You will note that I said “Perhaps”... which implies that you MIGHT be correct. However, anyone can mouth those words, and many a lunatic actually believes them to be true when in fact they are sometimes incorrect... like Jim Jones. So your making such a statement to begin with about the Lord has witness to you, is meaningless. Might be true, or might be the rantings of a deluded nutjob. But the INTENT of such statement is to end any questioning of that which you say, and encourage blind acceptance of it as Truth.

—”The reason I asked such a question was because something I felt in one of your post when you so hard hitting on Mormon in general for some reason it hit a nerve and I got an impression you are so quick to tell the LDS how to live what about yourself!”

Since you seem so adept at pulling up my posts... feel free to pull up, and post here, any post I made that was taking a shot at Mormons. If you cannot, then you have borne false witness, and an apology is owed by you.

And finally, as for my having “flipped off everyone here”.. I took umbrage at those who twisted what I was saying out of context, and implied I was somehow defending the people in the Sect... when in fact all I really did was express concern that the vehicles the authorities chose to use might play into the hands of defense attorneys. Most of them eventually figured out what I was really saying. Those who do not, and who twist what I say into something I never did say (just as YOU are doing) display an intellectual dishonesty and in doing so are maligning me, and I feel no compunction with flipping them off. And that includes you. You can just assume that it is PRECISELY what I am doing to you right now. I have no problem with carrying on intelligent discourse with those who, while they may disagree, are at least intellectually honest. But I have no use for fools who play word games, twisting what people say into something they obviously never meant. Which means I have no use for people like YOU.

You are a waste of people’s time, and reading your posts is a waste of bandwidth and probably kills a few brain cells in the process.
