I've heard Hillary tell the story many times in campaign speeches, and it rarely fails to bring a horrified gasp from the crowd: An uninsured and pregnant Ohio woman, working for minimum wage at a pizza parlor, is turned away from a hospital because she can't come up with $100. The baby dies, and so does the woman. Clinton talks about how this woman haunts her, and how stories like this show the moral imperative - and the urgency - of fixing a badly broken health care system. (video) Except, it turns out, it didn't happen - at least not the way Clinton said it did. There was indeed a tragedy in Ohio, in which a woman, Trina Bachtel, gave birth to a stillborn baby and subsequently died herself. But the hospital involved says Bachtel had coverage and received treatment. And here's the remarkable part, given how important this story has become to the overall narrative of the Clinton candidacy: Linda Weiss, a spokeswoman for the not-for-profit hospital, said the Clinton campaign had never contacted the hospital to check the accuracy of the story...

No question - it is.
Why let the facts get in the way of a good story?
When they can so easily be disproved then there’s no question that her behaviour is pathological.
It's standard Clinton. Lies, lies, and more lies.
She even lies about her first name, which, everybody knows, is Hildegarde!
It worked fine for them when the media was in their back pocket. The Clintons don’t know how to survive in a world where the MSM is backing another candidate.
Not to mention the ease of information access via the Internet. ;-)
True. I guess this is another reason why they hate Gore since he was the guy who invented it :)
LOL! Never thought of that angle. Good catch. ;-)
Media will give her a pass. This falls in the fake but accurate category. The media ‘knows’ health care is a problem, so making up a story about it is OK.
Come on, let's give her a break. Verification of such a story would have required complex research, such as a phone call to the hospital. Surely we can't expect her to take time out of her busy day to undertake such a rigorous project, can we? ;-)
bump
Something tells me Time magazine wouldn’t have bothered placing the call if Hillary was the presumptive Dem nominee.
The purpose of this lie and others like it is to work there and then and immediately afterwards. This they do. They work on the live audience and they work on the regional audience when reported, and sometimes on the national audience, re-confirming in each case the fears of the citizens about the topic at hand, health care in this case. How many, who heard this story, heard or read about it, will now know that it was a lie, will change their vote, will change their mind about Hitlery, about the state of health care in this country. Any bets? My bet is on 0%!
Hard to keep up. Does anyone know the score?
No, just battle fatigue, and the pain from all those chipped teeth from pulling had grenade pins with her teeth.
