Absolut-ely Ridiculous Rick Moran Take a look at this map that Absolut Vodka is using in its latest campaign in Mexico and the US:
Now I have an open mind about a lot of things. But somehow, giving California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, and about 4 other states to Mexico because they don't like a treaty they signed after losing a war 160 years ago seems a little too much in the way of good neighborliness if you ask me.
The word is "reconquista." The open borders crowd tells us that this is a myth, that the issue of "returning" the American southwest and California to Mexico is a straw man set up by anti-immigration forces to scare the voters.
But as you can see, the idea is alive and well south of the border as well as in many Hispanic enclaves here in this country. And now Absolut Vodka has acknowledged the power of this idea by using it in an ad campaign in magazines, billboards, and posters.
I will not fall in to the trap of many open borders advocates and proclaim myself against all immigration from Mexico. I, and most rational people, oppose illegal immigration. Those who enter legally are generally more eager to assimilate, to leave the old country behind thus revealing reconquista the crackpot idea that it is.
Michelle Malkin has a roundup of links about this scandalous ad campaign.
I thought that Americans had become more sophisticated about 60's and 70's style Madison Ave. tricks, and brilliantly lampooned by Steve Martin in the 1979 movie, "The Jerk", in which Steve Martin's character only feels like a stud unless he has the bamboo umbrella in his drink, like he saw in a magazine.
But you all get in a huff about a vodka ad in English(the irony is priceless), that basically states that if you drink this vodka, the ad will come true.
Amazing how people can be manipulted.
Also BTW, Absolut is getting tons of free publicity with your alls help.
Your a one-trick pony Dane, frankly your continuous defense of illegals and the surrendering of our sovereign territory needs to be put to pasture.
EXACTLY. Won’t lose enough people to counteract the people they gain from this. They have a net gain over this thing. I’m a Ketel One man anyway. When our government is already pro amnesty why worry about a private company? Absolut doesn’t write the laws they just wanna cash in on a growing section of the marketplace.

You didn’t really expect a “search” did you. No one does that anymore.
Them too. However I am directly addressing Dane’s continuous addressing of people who are against illegal aliens as being racists and now his support of an ad, no matter what benefit it has by us being outraged on their sales, as being just a joke.
Don’t you ever get tired of being so tiresoms?
The fact is we're well aware of what Al-Queda represents but when a large company puts out ads like this it really makes you wonder what larger problems we as a country face. Note I have no problem with Hispanics at all--but they need to be here legally under OUR terms with the people that WE choose. If we need to allow more legal immigration I have no problem but this flood of illegal immigration coupled with free bennies and undue burdon on our healthcare system is outrageous.
Absolut? Absolutely out of the question. We’ll spend our money elsewhere.
Grupo Gallegos Creative Director Favio Ucedo, an Argentinian who emigrated here in 1990 is the slimebucket, pro-reconquista, brainchild of this ad.
As an aside Grupo Gallegos is an American Company located here in the good ol U.S. of A. (401 E. Ocean Blvd. 8th Floor Long Beach, CA. 90802 tel. 562-256-3600)
OMG, put him on the FBI 10 most wanted list, for making an English ad.
You guys seriously don't know how ridiculous you look.
Dunno Dane at all. I’m just pointing out that the one party has opted for amnesty and they’ll ram it through under cover of darkness or through a thousand smaller bills. Once they get a foot in the door it’s all over. It’ll probably be a health care or student tuition thing first...
What support of the ad? My comments are directed at you reactionaries who get yourselves all in a tizzy about a freaking vodka ad, while giving Absolut what they want most, free publicity.
Dane is partly right, for once. Getting upset over a vodka ad is pretty worthless.
It would be extraordinarily more effective if regular citizens would hold politicians publicly accountable. For instance, imagine if a better questioner had asked a better question in this case:
