I tried explaining this to a liberal relative. It is utterly hopeless and useless to do so. In their world, everybody is happy and peaceful until a gun comes along and ruins everything. “Get rid of the guns and nobody will die.” is their line of twisted “logic”. Talking to one of them is like arguing with a two year old......

All their experience of guns is from TV and movies, and, as you may notice, in that context, guns are always associated with trouble and somebody dying.

Real life is an antidote. But they aren't lining up to take it.

I've had this debate many times with my mates in England
This is what I say
A gun is used in a robbery, to a lib it's the guns fault for guns kill people

a man does a robbery and uses a knife and kills people as has what happened, to a lib it's the man who is at fault
