As the old saying goes, "there is no such thing as bad publicity", and you all have proven it.

Yeah, companies just love bad publicity for their products. LOL!

None of the Mexicans I know drink much vodka, much less Absolut vodka. Not to the extent Americans do. Absolut might find out that there is such a thing as bad publicity. Bank of (South) America did.

I left my parting comment on their website.

Absolut has just been purchased by a French company in the last few days. I suspect they did not have an opportunity to approve this ad campaign. Maybe they should go back for a discount. If not there are lots of brands that now tie to Absolut, a product of Vin & Spirit AB.

From Business Week on March 31st:
Pernod Ricard SA, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the production, distribution, sale of spirits and wines in France and internationally. It offers whiskies, liqueurs, champagne, cognacs and brandies, white spirits and rums, bitters, and wines. The company sells its products under Ricard, Ballantine’s, Chivas Regal, Kahlua, Malibu, Beefeater, Havana Club, Martell, The Glenlivet, Jacob’s Creek, Montana, Mumm, Perrier-Jouet, Seagram’s gin, 100 Pipers, Amaro Ramazzoti, Clan Campbell, Imperial, Pastis 51, Ararat, Wild Turkey, Royal Salute, Tia Maria, Suze, Royal Stag, Ruavieja, Wyndham Estate, Powers, Campo Viejo, Hiram Walker, Passport, Becherovka, Don Pedro, Olmeca, Aberlour, Wisers, Montilla, Presidente, Soho/Dita, Pernod, Wyborowa, and Something special brand names. The company was founded in 1975 and is based in Paris, France.

Pernod Ricard SA, jointly with Fortune Brands Inc., has won the auction for the sale of Vin & Sprit AB, people familiar with the matter said. The details of the bid weren’t immediately clear, but V&S was expected to fetch as much as $7 billion. A spokesman for V&S declined to comment. Representatives for Fortune and Pernod also declined to comment.

We're not stupid, we can see what the ad says. It dreams of destroying the union. What I don't see is how that is "clever" unless your goal is to enrage and alienate as many consumers as possible. I guess they're deciding that they'd be better off with 12 million illegal customers than the other law abiding 300 million. You don't have to be "far right" to want the western united states to remain as the property of the american people. I think for you to say that is quite illuminating of your poorly hidden radical nature

The English ad in a Spanish language magazine has done it's job. It's played on your worst kneejerk paranoid fears(goaded on by michelle malkin), andf Absolut gets all the publicity, again the old saying, "there is no such thing as bad publicity".

I’m not going to stop drinking Pernod during the summer. Just Absolut for the rest of my life.

Oh I agree, it’s so idiotic the only reason for it I can see is that their ad department is made up of mexican reconquista idiots who put their own ideology above what their company wants them to do. Why the company approved this garbage? Beyond me...

Heck, more of them (Japanese cars) are made in the US than domestic brands.

And where do the profits, sub vendor components and most tax benefits come from, or go?

None of the Mexicans I know drink much vodka, much less Absolut vodka.

It wasn't directed at Mexicans, it was directed at the reactionary American right wing, and Absolut will get tons of free publicity by such gas bags as Hannity and Beck over this.

why would texas want to add thousands of square miles of poverty stricken 3rd world population to its rolls? The states cannot afford to support the illegals that are here now, it wont be helped by making all of mexico US citizens!

There is no such thing as bad publicity.

I guess that explains why you advertise your stupidity here with such vigor.

Your idiotic logic is like saying “Keith Olbermann is just making money off of your worst george bush fears.”

Uh keithy does exactly that with his DUmmie fan base.

Right, causing me and everyone else who cares about the country to boycott their products isn't bad? Despite your stupid cliche, threatening a country that gives you tons of your business does not generate revenue.

Yeah, but that’s his job you idiot. He believes what he says, he reports what he thinks is important and he gets paid for it. It’s not “trying to make money off of fear” if you share the fear... it’s reporting, that’s all!

A. You're an idiot.

B. Ads can and do, backfire. This one has that kind of potential. Being talked about on TV and radio is not the same as being ordered in bars. If anything this is a sign that Absolut is nervous about being crushed in the market by Grey Goose/Belvedere/Chopin.
