Secretary of the Commonwealth Katherine Hanley's son was seriously wounded while fighting in Iraq over the weekend.
Spc. Patrick Hanley was stationed in Baghdad with the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division, 4th Brigade combat team, the Fairfax County Times reported. He was scheduled to come home later this month after a 15-month tour of duty, the paper reported.
He lost an arm and suffered a head injury, according to a statement from Gov. Tim Kaine's Chief of Staff Wayne Turnage posted on RaisingKaine.com, a progressive Web site.
