Attn McCain Apologists: Talk all you want!

But he's still a constitution trampling RINO and unless he repeals McCain-Feingold, repudiates amnesty and global warming, drops all support for embryonic stem cell research and stops talking about partnering up with the Democrats and instead swears to fight the evil bastards he won't be getting my support.

You kicked the conservatives to the curb and nominated your RINO, now all you gotta do is get him elected.

However, that shouldn't be all that tough to do. Look what he'll be running against. A corrupt, power hungry Marxist radical feminist control freak or a corrupt, America-hating racist Marxist surrender monkey (oops, can I say "surrender monkey" in this context?). Can't see America going for either of those two useful idiots.

By the way, "change" is a Marxist codeword.

As they say, America deserves better.

Carry on.

P.S.

Or, you can select a kick butt pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-America, pro-gun, pro-drilling, pro-defense, pro-small government, fiscal conservative as your running mate and signal a return to traditional conservatism as the future of the GOP and of America and you will get all the support you need. If she's a moose hunting Alaskan army mom, all the better!

>> A third party run can only effect McCain before the election. My point was that that will have no effect on McCain after the election.<<

If McCain started to use his position as a Senator to keep his CPAC promise, that would be difficult to undo if he became POTUS.

>>I just love how people talk in circles just to get ‘round to doing what they wanted to do all along. You don’t like McCain. I get that. Neither do I. But promoting Bob Barr is just self-defeating nonsense.<<

I would advise you to keep your day job instead of reading my mind, because you are not very good at it. I would rather support the Republican nominee, because I agree with you that if Barr did get a significant number of Republican votes, of course that would help the Dem nominee, and I do think that both Dem nominees would make a horrible POTUS.

The trouble is that I am not sure that, in the long run, McCain would be better. He might be more, or less, effective at pushing amnesty, which would create millions of new Dem voters. I can’t predict the future, but based upon the current evidence, I think all 3 candidates are very dangerous.

I don’t know if I could support Barr or not in November. I just used Barr as an example of how unpredictable politics can be.

On careful reading, I can see how you were not necessarily advocating votes for Barr. Sorry for jumping to conclusions.

Thompson was my great hope too. I was disappointed that he didn't try harder. In retrospect, I think he was afflicted with the Hollywood syndrome...be there and they will come. Interestingly it worked for Obama

In any case the '08 elections are shaping up and I know who I don't want. Therefore I am left with the choice of who I will accept, given the remaining choices.

I think maybe the media and the 'RATS picked McRINO. I know that I didn't vote for him!

I've no doubt our friends in the faux press would be more friendly to a squishy Pubbie like McCain, but the Rats on the other hand... Just on the surface it would seem short sighted; that is, a squishy Pubbie could and probably would pull a lot of votes from the Reagan Rats and much of the swing vote. Then again, moving the Pubbies a little farther to the left whenever possible could be a long term stratergery. Hard to follow the action without a program.

THIS FIRST PARAGRAPH IS THE ONE TO NOTE: MCCAIN'S VP choice per McCain "is in the embryonic stages". The gaul for him to mix embryos in a sick metaphor about his VP choice. Is he having a stem cell candidate or a test tube VP? He's not pro-life but the MSM and GOP keeps saying that he is. BUNK!

... McCain was the last one standing. He wasn't the best candidate. He was the candidate the msm wanted. Glad to hear that Texas isn't thrilled either. Florida gop's telemarketing and I don't think it's a slam dunk in that regard.

As Senator McCain, due to his lefty ways, I was spending so much time opposing him. Once again the national GOP shoots itself in both feet. McCain's worse than Bush. Bush is up front about his positions. McCain's just plain sneaky and I'm afraid we'd be hoodwinked right away and not even be able to fight bk.

There are no good scenarios for this election. I will support republicans but not him.

He was interviewed this moning on FNF....he said “I respect Senator obama and I respect Senator clinton”.

I do not, I cannot. Nor can I respect anyone who claims to respect such destructors of America.

Screw all 3 of them!

Whomever becomes POTUS, it will get so bad that they won't get re-elected. It will be four harrowing years but I think we'll make it.

Then, maybe a real strong leader whom I can vote for will run against the indumbent.

“Bauer describes McCain as “a very private man” who isn’t comfortable discussing his relationship with Christ.”

Mmmmmm, that certainly is no comfort.

No. Support candidates who share your values, even if they belong to minor parties. Once the GOP realizes that we're pulling the plug, they might get their sh*t together long enough to bring their party back to conservative principles before it flatlines permanently.

Otherwise, if you keep rewarding them with votes every time they offer you crap for a candidate, they'll just keep offering you more crap

This can't be stated enough - for those who say they are leaving the GOP because it's too liberal - the truth is the GOP is leaving us - we haven't changed our beliefs, the GOP has moved to the left.

We've been rewarding way too many RINOs (including the one currently in the White House) with our votes and our money far too long. It's only going to get worse if we keep on saying "well just this one more time because I don't like the Democrat".

The only difference between the RINOs like Bush, Giuliani, McCain, etc., and the Democrats is that going the RINO route means we arrive at socialism a little slower than the Democrats. The end result is still the same - socialism.

If we don't do this now, and we keep putting it off, then our grandchildren's grandchildren will pay the price for our lack of willpower.

I think FR is a very good place to start a Conservative Party. Even those who feel they absolutely MUST vote for mclame this election, I’m sure they would be more than willing to never be put in that position again.

That "something" is something I haven't heard or seen discussed anywhere by GOP muckity mucks or even McCain's former opponents. It's almost as though he was knighted in the back room(s) then suddenly resurrected from the tomb - soon to become the front runner and presumptive nominee. Kindof has a funny smell to it...

Smells like amnesty to me... MxCain will deliver and that will be the end of the real Republican party. The U.S. will be a de facto One Party system and will accelerate the advance into administrative government. Representative government will be a thing of the past. The 30 million illegal aliens that get an amnesty will vote democrat and the one hundred million chain migration aliens will get the fast track to citizenship and will follow the voting pattern of their sponsor.

At that point we can kiss it all goodbye.

I strongly disagree. There's no sense in supporting a GOP that's nothing but a democrat-lite party. Time to pull its plug and begin retiring it now. It might hurt to lose the White House in 2008, but if MacNutJob wins, the GOP continues its leftward slither and the RINOs/NeoCons become even more firmly entrenched.

A good bitch-slapping to the GOP will either knock some sense into them, or kill them and make way for their new conservative succesor.

Hmmmm, well, a little bit of revolution from time to time is not a bad thing. Problem is, due to a life of debauchery and fast living, I wouldn't be much help to the effort. If my generation, the boomers, had any self respect, we'd own up to the fact much of the political chicanery happened on our watch and at least make some effort to right the wrongs. And now many of us are too old or out of shape to even haul out the trash.

In this way, McCain, 71, is a throwback to an earlier generation, when such personal matters were kept personal...

He's a throwback all right....it's called a "fake" out. : )
