With two socialists on the Democrat ticket, the choice to vote for McCain will be easy.
I don’t like him. Oh well, guess you really, really, REALLY hate me now. I’ll just have to somehow live with it. (And is it “wrong” that, as I was reading your post, I imagined the whole thing being spoken in a deep German accent from the 1940’s?)
I've almost concluded the same. But I absolutely don't know if I can stomach another open borders prez.
Hardly Breaking News, CG.
Regardless, I don’t really hate McCain, it’s just that I believe conservatives could’ve done MUCH MUCH better than him. Alas, most of us didn’t even have a chance to vote in a primary before the other candidates bowed out and handed it to him.
I feel like he’s slapped my face so many times I can’t count. He may be better than Obama and Hillary, but frankly, that isn’t saying much.
Thanks. I didn't bother reading it.
McCain isn't a conservative man. And I don't think he's particularly smart. But compared to Clinton II or the Magic Negro, he's the pot at the end of the rainbow. But I still won't hold my nose and vote for him. Politics can go to h-e-hockeystick-hockeystick this year as far as I'm concerned. Sometimes it has to get much worse before it can get any better.
Here's the corrected version...there were quite a few typos in the first, and some comments left out, for the which I apologize.
Well, I strongly disagree with McCain's stance on immigration, campaign finance reform, the environment (particularly global warming), his original stance against the tax cuts, and his stated intent to close down Gitmo.
All of these are very non-conservative stances and exactly the wrong areas to try and "reach across the aisle" on.
I do not hate him, but I will fight him tooth and nail on those issues.
Having said that, he is much better than either Obama or Hillary because with them we will not only have to fight hard in those areas, but we will also lose more ground in those very areas IMHO, and also lose ground on abortion, the supreme court, the war on terror, and limiting spending by government.
I cannot countenance lessening the blood that has been spilt in the war on over abortion and making any of it in vain.
I also deeply respect his service to our nation and the sacrifices he made as a result.
As a result of all of that, I will vote for McCain over the others...but I will still insist on fighting him tooth and nail as regards the original issues (or any other non-conservative stances he may take) I spoke of.
Hope that helps clarify things.
Thank you. Excellent post, xjcsa.
I don’t hate McCain.... I’m a conservative, he hates me.
Cheers!
BTW, the big jacka$$ pictured on the left said this today.
Who would you trust in a foxhole with you?
I just read through her “in posts” and damn near every one was her castigating other FReepers.
Looks like she can dish but cannot take.
Oh well, it was mildly interesting but time time to move on.
I Love You.
Thanks for this post.
I’m not a McCain “supporter”, but I agree with you that he is by far the best candidate with a chance to win the presidency in 2008, and that the attacks on him have gone way too far, and for too long.
“As a result of all of will vote for McCain over the others”
Actually, it does Jeff. In the original posting (above), it seems like you were saying “all will vote mclame”.
I apologize, thought you were just telling me how I was going to vote.
“Looks like she can dish but cannot take.”
Exactly. Pretty hard to fight against facts, but you could at least try, especially when you start a thread about it!
