Animal enthusiasts have set up a medical expenses fund to help a dog thrown from an overpass and onto an interstate - and an $8,000 reward for information leading to whoever injured the animal. The boxer, named Seven, suffered a broken jaw and internal injuries, according to the Humane Society of Utah. "We just think it's a senseless, violent act," said Gene Baierschmidt, the society's director. About 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, drivers reported someone throwing the pooch from the overpass above Interstate 15 at 3900 South, said Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Cameron Roden. One passerby retrieved the dog and took it to a veterinarian.

Flogging is too good for some.
Boxers are wonderful dogs, I hope “Seven” gets a good home
Indeed. We have become to “civilized” for our own good.
“The dog was apparently taken from its home.”
Someone broke in and took the dog? And they don’t know who?
The weird part of the story is, he has a home. The picture at the article shows him with his 18yr old owner, whom he was glad to see.
It’s a weird story
You know, I can only hope the perp suffers a worse fate.
One can hope.
speechless......
Sick.
But fair warning—no doubt before long someone will show up to post that animals are property and people can do what they want with them.
Studies have shown those that abuse animals abuse family members, spouses, or have a proclivitity to.
This guy needs to be neutered.
I would suspect a jilted boyfriend or someone known to the owner(s).
There is probably more to the story. A motive.
I’d like five minutes alone in a room with the jerk who did this.
really pi$$ed off ping...
me too...
But I promise.. I will put one round in each kneecap.. only one.
Agreed, as long as you take a Louisville Slugger in there with you. Kneecaps are a great place to begin.
“I would suspect a jilted boyfriend or someone known to the owner(s).”
That would be my guess.

According to witnesses, a man in a red Ford truck stopped, took the dog and threw it onto oncoming traffic.

Haley can only conclude that Seven somehow got out of her fenced yard, and someone in the red truck picked her up and dumped her.

If caught, the perpetrator could face charges of Class B misdemeanor cruelty, punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of $1,000, and could also be held liable for the costs of the dog's medical treatment.

Savage, who left the door to her home cracked open so Seven could go in and out while she was at work, believes Seven either jumped over the fence surrounding her yard on her own or was coaxed to jump over it. She lives close to the area where Seven was tossed. At some point, Savage believes, someone lured Seven, whether it was before or after she got out of her yard, because at the vet's office she was throwing up a lot of shredded beef, something Savage said she never feeds Seven.

Couple of possible lessons can come out of this...
--Ensure that your fencing is adequate to contain your dog.
--There are scum in this world that will steal your dog out of your yard.
It may be best to not leave your dog in the yard while you're away from home.
I have a handsome boxer mix dog. He is so smart it’s scary sometimes. I hope Seven finds a great, loving home with lots of good food and snuggling. My dog loves to snuggle.
Someone ticked off at the family so they took it out on the dog.
