RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) ― One person is dead and another wounded after an argument during a pickup basketball game in Riverside escalated into gunfire.
Police have released few details on the incident, which happened Sunday afternoon on the outdoor courts at Central Middle School.
Neighborhood residents said they heard arguing followed by several gunshots, then saw people scattering from the area.
Eric Sheppard lives across the street from the school's playground. The 46-year-old said he often hears arguing coming from the basketball courts, but they usually resolve it. On Sunday, the trash-talking turned deadly.
But not the right to commit murder and assault on a playground.
“The article is silent on ethnic identification of the participants.”
That doesnt matter.
This is all due to slavery and its ramifications.
“The article is silent on ethnic identification of the participants.”
ME: yeah, like that is a real hard thing to determine...
More like they were shot in the act of fouling.
Nope... this is Kalifornia. Most likely someone shot for foul acting.
The article is silent on ethnic identification of the participants.
ME: yeah, like that is a real hard thing to determine...”
And the race is important to you because...?
...because the media is hesitant to admit that black people commit crime.

ME: Yes the race is important to me because im sick of news stories that continue to skip out that part of the story.
Just as in the middle east, islamic wackos are the main cause of problems, for themselves and those around them, the same can be said for black americans.
they are their own worst enemy and blame it on everyone else (especially white america) and inevitably, white americans ‘pick up the tab’ in money, time and sometimes, victims..
I agree with Bill Cosby on this sort of stuff, and im tired of folks trying to ignore it, soft sell it, or skip it all together.
It needs publicized over and over.
“Yes the race is important to me because im sick of news stories that continue to skip out that part of the story.”
So you would also want the race identified when whites commit crimes? Even if it’s against whites. Right?
obviously the shot was blocked...didn’t use his hand, unfortunately!
absolutely, in fact, most of the time, when the perp is white, he/she is identified
Besides, what good is it to give a news story of a gun on the loose, but not describing him/her by approximate height, weight, race, features, etc...
yes, identify all EQUALLY.
but, that isnt what is done, is it?
absolutely, in fact, most of the time, when the perp is white, he/she is identified
that’s funny, because most black people believe it’s the opposite.
ME: AAAAh, but they are wrong. As history shows, and as most of my posts on this thread have shown. I watch the news here nightly in Pittsburgh.
We have our bad sections of town, and they are invairably the black neighborhoods, where the shootings and other violence occurs.
In that regard, i dont need to know the race, just the neighborhood, i.e. The Hill, East Liberty, Homewood, etc...for those of you in the pgh area...
but the news just last nite had a story, that was actually a few days old, regarding two men involved in shooting a u.s postal worker, they are still at large, were any descriptions given????
one of the original stories mentioned their race as black, but i havent heard ONE mention since then. Why?

People go nuts over sports. I saw an off-duty policeman come from the stands and out onto the floor and pull a gun on a referee at a basketball game.
Sadly, it was a YMCA game for 5 and 6 year olds. The referee in this case was a coach and they weren’t even keeping score.
Well here in Milwaukee it is actually the reverse. we often joke about it when we here of various crimes that are committed. If the perp is black you’ll see his/her face before the report begins and well unto it’s end. If the perp is white, it’s up to you to figure it out from the vague description given at the end of the report. This even happens sometimes when they catch the perp on video. Funny how media bias differs from place to place.
The Federal Department of Ballers?
True, but with the right to bear arms comes the responsibility to use them correctly - and a depressingly large number of folk don’t have that level of responsibility, certainly not those who would kill over a dispute in a game.
“absolutely, in fact, most of the time, when the perp is white, he/she is identified”
Not so in my experience. I’d be interested in seeing some examples, especially any where whites have been identified for no apparent reason other than the fact that they are white.
“Besides, what good is it to give a news story of a gun on the loose, but not describing him/her by approximate height, weight, race, features, etc...”
If all you have is the fact that they’re black and, say, medium height, that doesn’t help in the least. If you have a very specific description, then, yes, it should be released.
“yes, identify all EQUALLY.
but, that isnt what is done, is it?”
Again, in my experience, it is. I rarely see race mentioned unless in the media unless it seems germane to the story. And I never see Freepers complaining because a white perp’s race wasn’t described in the media.
from my experience i have noted a concentrated effort in the pittsburgh area to downplay the race if a black is the suspect or eventual convicted party...
and that is just too PC for me....

Indeed, elder statesmen from the very founding of this nation forward have communicated the need for rights to be exercised responsibly. These days however, morality is simply 'uncool' so it's easier to view the right itself as somehow defective or in need of modification rather than the abuser of that right.
