Mort Kondracke got one thing right: Rush Limbaugh would go Krakatoa . . .
The resident moderate of The Beltway Boys has counseled John McCain to offer the VP slot to Christie Todd Whitman. Mort made his move during the show-ending "Buzz" segment.
MORTON KONDRACKE: Two new McCain Veep ideas: first, he should offer the Vice-Presidency to Colin Powell, who may well not take it. If not Powell, then Christie Todd Whitman, former governor of New Jersey. Rush Limbaugh would go Krakatoa but independents will like it, women will like it, and so will African-Americans, the whole package.

Just in case McCain ain’t moderate enough ping to Today show list.
I don’t see McCain doing that.
Oh no, Christy Witless!
As of now, naming any moderate or lib will NOT in any way change my mind.
Mort’s a loon.
I see McCain offering the VP slot to Hillary, after all, he has said that she would make a good President, and isn’t that the most important qualification for a VP. Also, since Hillary is his ideological soul mate, they would have a good working relationship.
(I just got back from two weeks in Belize and I have to say, for those two weeks, while alternating between diving a beautiful coral reef and eating tropical fruit in a hammock, I didn’t care which of the three lefties wins the election.)
Mort’s a LIBERAL. He just happens to think a little bit, once in a while. Of course he would advocate another liberal in the opposition party.
Interesting. I’ve occasionally thought about moving to Mexico or Central America for retirement. I lived and worked in Mexico City as a young man and speak Spanish. What’s your take on Belize as a place to live? Large American community? Did you get a sense of what kind of health and other facilities are available? And most importantly: is there golf? Your thoughts appreciated.
Just in CASE any conservatives had decided they could just bear to vote for McCain...if he goes with an even MORE liberal “Republican” I don’t know if I can find a big enough clothespin.
And that's why it prolly won't happen.
Since Democrats chose the GOP presidential nominee, I suppose they can choose the Vice President as well.
Mort must be an Obama supporter to have come up with two suggestions that would ensure that all conservatives would stay home in Nov.
While I abhor McQueeg and shall not vote for him, no matter his VP choice, I do give him some credit for political survival skills. McQueeg may have been born at night but it wasn’t last night — neither of Mort’s musings are in the mix because they would draw attention away from McQueeg and that ain’t the way to succeed in his world.
Talk about disasters.
I remember Mort went volcanic when the illegal immigrant amnesty bill was shot down.
He’s angry at conservatives because we won’t pay for health care, schooling, clothing, food, housing and entertainment for his illegal houseboy, cook and landscape laborer.
Well, Mort from planet Abort, would you be able to embrace McCain selecting Hillary Clinton?
I knew you would.
***********************
Neither choice would help McCain, imho.
I guess Mort forgot about the photo of the smiling Christie patting down the black perps. Yeah the Obama supporters are really going to flock to her.
It's sort of like a anti conservative morning shot of liberalism
