Rev. Jeremiah Wright Surprises Chicago Church With Appearance

CHICAGO — Barack Obama’s former pastor, who canceled several public events following an uproar over his incendiary comments, surprised a Chicago congregation by attending an event to celebrate poet Maya Angelou’s birthday.

The Rev. Jeremiah Wright got a raucous standing ovation when he entered Saint Sabina church on the city’s South Side on Friday night, according to video from WBBM-TV. Members yelled “Hallelujah!” as Wright embraced the Rev. Michael Pfleger, Saint Sabina’s pastor.

The smiling Wright accepted an invitation to give the benediction at the Roman Catholic church but did not address the furor over his past sermons. He also sang “Happy Birthday” to Angelou, whose birthday is April 4.

I don't know. Travis,
is America "prepared"
if all hell breaks loose?

Why are you asking me? Why don’t you ask yourself, and give your own answer first?

I think I agree - .(the priest should be defrocked)....

Though I don’t know what “defrocked” means in the Catholic church....can you explain?

My question is why is this priest still allowed to be a priest after he is obviously teaching/preaching/leading contrary to the stands that the Roman Catholic Church has officially taken on, especially, the issue of abortion. Is there no way for every day Catholics to protest until this “priest” is removed and no longer has the ability to be called a “Catholic Priest” in order to add the church’s endorsement of is conduct and stands?

Others have said this priest is openly pro-abortion and pro-homosexual marriage.

One of the things for which I have been grateful to God has been the Catholic church’s usual reliable stances against such “liberal” causes as being pro-abortion.

This common held value is one of the reasons that the liberal left HATES the Catholic church and HATES the prolife Protestant churches.....(and yes I know there are many pro-abortion and pro-homosexual marriage Protestant churches...LIBERAL ones....which have become anathema to me as well).

Ahh, WVON. I used to listen to that station in the '60's, and heard a whole new world of music as a result.

And on Sundays, my mother would listen to Little Wally and the Polka AllStars on WOPA in the morning, and I would tune to the same station at 10PM for Big Bill Hill.

I haven't tuned into WVON for a long time, but I bet it's rap music anyway. Times have changed.

I was being cute.
My answer is obvious--
I think coast-to-coast

there are thousands of
TravisMcGee-types waiting
completely "prepared"

to start gunning down
rioters stupid enough
to try violence

on any large scale.
As soon as the left-wing nuts
create violence

to large for the cops
to protect them at, I think
the US will see

domestic death tolls
like the French Revolution
as pent-up anger

from "normal" people
gets itself a real outlet.
That was all I meant . . .

I fathom that other world. More people are beginning to understand that the current elite liberal black leadership is a vile evil racist thing. It’s pervasively negative way of describing the successful European culture is insulting at best.

This negative thinking is self-fulfilling and will not stop until they can destroy everything European, especially what they perceive as whiteness. Once they do that, they will go after lighter skinned dark people.

The only explanation for Wright’s behaior is that it is somehow hereditary. Perhaps Jeremiah Wright’s behavior and that of his followers is similar to the behavior of their ancestors. It would make sense that the tribes who captured them and sold them to white slavers did so to get rid of the worst losers in all of Africa. We then are cursed with them in this country. All of the people in his “congregation” appear to be overweight (well-fed), have money to contribute (they are the rich middle class) and are as Christian a group as you would find at a KKK rally. The only difference is that they hate whites. The old KKK hated blacks.

I am a typical white folk. Just using Obama’s words to describe myself. Did you hear that Obama’s black grandfather did not want his bloodline contaminated by Obama’s white mother? Obama has only trashed whites and has a Jim Jones way of entrancing other black racists.

Yes, there’s a whole, ‘nuther world out there, but whitey is just beginning to perceive it.

what “defrocked” means in the Catholic church

Ordination is an indelible mark, so a priest once ordained is always priest. But he can be asked to withdraw from ministry, not hear confessions, not celebrate public Mass, etc.

I bet it remainded on the summer reading list, though.

No. I think it [Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings] was gone the following year. It certainly was gone four years later when my son went through.

Did Gus ever respond to you in person or in writing?

Yes. We talked quite a bit about many school issues. As I recall he offered a weak defense of the teacher who included Angelou's book on the reading list. As I indicated in a pror post, though, the book was removed from the summer reading list.

ok, thanks for that explanation.

So, such a “priest” cannot be un-ordained? Or excommunicated?

thanks

***I don’t understand how he could give the benediction, unless this wasn’t a mass.***

Good thinking, Miss Marple. I’d also like to know how they have a “room off the pulpit.” And if my Catholic church invited Maya Angelou to show their love for her, I’d have to attend a neighboring Catholic church, and complain to my Bishop.

PROVE that statement, and it better be an unimpeachable source when you try to justify it.

Good question.

I do know that it is a black Catholic Church, however.
