” Poison was one of the most popular hair bands in the late 80s. They sold 25 million albums worldwide.

Teenage girls in the late 80s”
Album sales are a sign of commercial success, not musical talent! They were a Pop concoction designed, by themselves and the record company, to sell to an audience of——”teenage girls!” You might enjoy reading Fred Goodman’s book, “The Mansion On The Hill: Dylan, Young, Geffen, Springsteen, and the Head-on Collision of Rock and Commerce.”
You might enjoy my best friend’s playing. I played on a few of his CDs.

So what. We loved them back then and still do.

It’s fine for you to love them! But I hope your musical horizons have broadened since then. Did you check out my friend’s site? He had a “hair band” back in those days. He’s touring in Italy right now.

He was being held on a strong-arm rape warrant filed in Neshoba County, Miss.

Confusing. Is he accused of committing a "strong-arm rape," or was he arrested for rape on a "strong-arm warrant"?

And whoever did his makeup should be shot.

But I hope your musical horizons have broadened since then.

I like everything from Motley Crue (obviously :), Metallica, Def Leppard to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fleetwood Mac, Pink Floyd to Johnny Cash to Bach to Duran Duran, Beastie Boys and Anita Baker. I have a great selection of songs from every genre of music on my iPod you'd be surprised.

I enjoy all kinds of music but because so many people love criticizing 80s hair bands I have to chime in and defend it. And I don't really care if I get slammed for liking them either it's par for the course on FR.

It seems just because I don't know every single Dylan, Young, Hendrix or Rolling Stones albums/songs I somehow lack taste in music.

I grew up in a different era of music and certainly wouldn't expect someone who grew up in the 60s to like what I did in the 80s (i.e. hair bands).

Did you check out my friend’s site?

I'm surfing through it right now. I like it. Is the song you played with him on his website?

I don’t believe they still are. I think he’s put up more current stuff. I played on three songs from the “Staring At The Sun” cd. I think a pic of my old Earnie Ball Albert Lee guitar is still on his “Equipment” page. I played slide guitar and steel guitar for him.
BTW, my opinion of Poison was just that, my own opinion. I was a huge Zappa fan, and Gawd knows, most people hated his music! So I’ve been disillusioned with pop music for a very long time. I currently work for a manufacturer of steel guitars, and restore old ones in my spare time. Musically, after 45 years of playing, I’ve gone back to my roots, and am playing slide guitar blues and boogie woogie.
In high school, my band was called “The Motley Odds!”

You were in band? That's so cool. I love that name too! :)

What did you used to play?

I still play, every day! I was local pro for 20 years. As a young man, I was the long haired lead guitarist, known as Plastos Klutchem, for a band called Methyl Ethyl and The Keytones(named after a strong solvent). Methyl Ethyl was actress Amy Madigan:”Streets of Fire” and Kevin Costner’s wife in “Field of Dreams” and many, many other movies.
In ‘72 I added pedal steel guitar to my arsenal of weapons, and started playing in country rock bands. Then later, pure country bands. That’s where the steady money was. Played 6 nights a week, 6 hours a night, for years, as a steel guitarist and lead guitarist.
Now I mostly play very old blues stuff, or Danny Gatton or Hellecaster’s material.

He might get a pass like too many other celebrities. Whatever happened to the David Copperfield rape charges?

OK. The top pic means he's patriotic and gay.

The bottom one just means he's gay.
