"What about all the people "BC" and others who haven't had the chance to hear about Jesus? Then Jesus's death on the cross was useless.

I heard the head of the Episcopal Church say that when being interviewed by either larry King or someone on NPR. She said that was part of their newly adopted progressive theology.

If Jesus is the only way to heaven, all those suckers born before his time or never heard of him are toast. He absolutely is the only way to heaven, and those who never hear the gospel are indeed given a chance to make the right choice.
I truly feel sorry for people who choose to make fun or mock the most serious issue any human being will ever face, that being where to spend eternity.

Barry-
Your mom was an atheist. She rejected God’s invitation to follow Him. She may have been a delightful woman. A loving mother. She is not in heaven unless she made the choice to believe in her heart and confess with her mouth.

Then Jesus's death on the cross was useless You didn't answer the question...which was:""What about all the people "BC" and others who haven't had the chance to hear about Jesus?"
Are you saying God condemns them all to Hell.
If you're going to respond, respond to the question.

All babies go to heavenI don't necessarily disagree with you, but asserting something doesn't make it true. Do you have anything to back up your statement?

If you are looking for something to finish him with, this is not it.
Many people politely and with good intent speak about people going to Heaven because it is such a delicate time speaking of loved ones that pass away or simply because we dont know what people do in the quiet of the night or in their own prayer closets.
Christian faith is such a personal area. If you want to know his Theology, I am afraid he may be like the rest of us on that road to Heaven... we met a Savior, we walk with Him daily but, we don't know everything,we know this....God is good. God is merciful, God asks us not to judge, but love. I believe this is what he is doing loving his brother.
Please don't go down this road.

I believe that only God knows the human heart. I believe the answer to what you ask would be something like this.
Those who lived before Christ or never heard the story of salvation through faith, but had lived up to all the truth they were exposed to, would likely be deemed to be pure in nature. It could be possible that God would grant them salvation based on their devotion to good works. It would be reasonable to assume those living as good a life as possible, would accept any truth presented by God after salvation and live according to that.
It has always seemed to me that in the end days, there would be a period of religious persecution. In that time all those living would have to contemplate the nature of Christ and Christianity, and during that time choose either to accept Christianity and Christ's sacrifice, or be found wanting when judgement was finalized. The final period of persecution would have to be global and focused on the truly pure. It would be up to each of us to consider the actions of the powers that be vs the followers of Christ at that time, to search our own souls and to act accordingly.
This would seem to cover every soul both past and present.

This is the typical pick-and-choose-what-makes-you-feel-good religion of the day. Yep, very popular and very wrong.

Any politician who says that only Christians go to heaven will be quoted as saying that Jews aren’t.
If Christ is the only way, then those Jews who refuse to believe in him are damned.
A remarkable number of people who claim to be Christian don’t seem to be able to comprehend this simple fact.

“being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the spirit, by which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison.”
Acts 2:31 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. (KJV)
Does’nt matter what we think,GOD takes care of it all.

If Jesus is the only way to heaven, all those suckers born before his time or never heard of him are toast.Your dispute is not with those who believe in Jesus or who claim to have the answers. Your dispute is with what is recorded in the New Testament. No historical document has the volume manuscript evidence that verifies it's accuracy and veracity, including Shakespeare. Manuscripts dating to the 2nd century testify to the accuracy of what we hold in our hand today. The earliest Church Fathers all preached to the same Gospel put forth in the NT. Thus, each of us is left with 3 choices:
1. The NT is not true, and Jesus is not the Christ
2. The NT is partially true, and man must determine what is true in it
3. The NT is true in it's entirety, thus written words of Jesus are as he spoke them, and He is the only way.
Have you read the Gospel of John? What is the central message of that book? Who does Jesus claim to be? Forget what we say, what does the NT say? You then must make a decision to believe or not, just as I did.
Obama falls into the 1st or 2nd group above, and his fruit witnesses that he must not be a true believer. We don't know his heart, but we must observe his actions.
