Dad Allowed to Take Leave From Prison to See His Dying Little Girl
Thursday, March 27, 2008
OMAHA, Neb. A 10-year-old Nebraska girl with terminal brain cancer had a simple last wish: to have her dad by her side as she lay on her death bed.
On Wednesday, seemingly against all odds, Jayci Yaeger's wish came true.
Her father, Jason Yaeger, who has been locked up in a South Dakota federal prison on methamphetamine charges, was allowed to see his daughter for what may be the last time.
He was furloughed after a barrage of letters and phone calls from around the country convinced officials to let him visit the hospital, according to KETV.com.
Jayci, who cannot speak, move or eat, could sense that her father was next to her and feel his touch, because she began breathing more heavily during his visit, the family told FOX News.
But to their disappointment, the visit lasted only about 30 minutes.
"She wants her dad. She goes to her room crying because she wants her dad," Jayci's mom, Vonda Yaeger, told KETV before the prison warden agreed to permit Jason to see his daughter.
The girl's condition has been described as minute-to-minute, and she recently suffered a stroke.

I would hope, none of us. But from reading this thread I’m no longer sure of that.
Oh my. I have never been accused of being liberal! If you look at every post I have made for 10 years you would see that will never be be the case. I don’t care where this little girl came from. She is dying, and that is all that matters to me.
Same arguments
Are you telling me that the futures of the kids of illegals means so little to you that you would steal it from them and sentence them to a life of poverty?
Please forgive me for jumping in here, but there is a great distinction between the two scenarios. Los pobrecitos want the wealth of government services from the American taxpayers b/c they are “victims.” This little girl in Nebraska wants her daddy to be there to comfort and hold her because she is *dying*.
Al the kids of illegals want to avoid having to go back and live their lives in the hellhole of Mexico, a shortened live because of all the poverty.
What a hardened, calloused post view.
I dont care where this little illegal came from. She just wants a chance, and that is all that matters to me.
Poverty can be risen from. Death cannot.
It wasn’t the father who said he wanted to see his daughter before she died. It was the little girl’s wish for him to be with her and hold her hand when she took her last breath. Waht is so hard to understand?
True for some, but there are millions for which that isn't true.
Oh, so that’s how you justify sentencing them to hell, with very little chance to get out?
I’ve never seen such callous disregard for the children.
Are you willing, on behalf of the child, to forgive any sin the father has committed?
Because if so, what’s the reason not to sin?
And you know what? If Dad weren’t a meth dealer, he’d be there to hold her hands.
Choices have consequences.
The choice to deal meth = the consequence of not seeing your daughter.
Cupcake, if you are trying to turn this into a Dane/Immigrant thread, try again. I am talking about a dying ten year old little girl and if you want to twist that to your own agenda you had better do it elsewhere, she deserves better than your petty bullshit.
Well, me, I wouldn’t have dealt meth, but that’s just me, I guess.
Respectfully disagree. Unless you are referring to the ones waiting in line to become Americans.
But this is not about illegals. This is about a dying child who’s been through the hell of chemo trying to live. And now that her fight is nearly finished, she just wants to be comforted and held by her daddy. I used to work in pediatric hem/onc. These brave little fighters shouldn’t be allowed to die on a bed if there is a parent who can sit below them and love them before they slip away.
No, but I am willing to let him be with his daughter while she dies, providing he returns to finish his sentence. I wouldn’t presume to to forgive the sins of anyone, yours included. Not that you have any.
Maybe Dad shoulda thought about that before he got into meth dealing.
I like you!
Please to be pinging someone you mention - kthxbye.
Yeah, because my speeding = his meth dealing.
Nice try.
Why should his consequences be less? Because his daughter is dying?
There, all fixed for the next decade.
